My first artwork of the year *sniffsniff*Urania: The Greek Muse of Philosophy, Astronomy and Astrology
The globe, compass, and star-spangled cloak are all here... I just didn't have enough space for the turtle (she's stepping on one. lol.)

I couldn't resist showing a bit of face for this one, since I wanted to portray that dreamy, far away look and it was getting quite impossible with the mask on. Let's just say this "uncovering" is "discovering"...Urania is, after all, all about the quest for truth.
Oh, and yes, I believe philosophy is like bending over backwards...but hey, pilates is also good for your health.

I like what you did to her skirt and the sash, appears so light they really contrast with the cloak.
And of course, can't say enough about her face, like she's in a dreamy, trance-like state. (I esp like her nose ^^ )

Beautiful image. I love the intricate patterns of the panel dangling from her outfit. I like that you've chosen to remove the mask. It has the connotation of revealed knowledge and that's what the muses were all about.
