Description This is a shield designed for boffer combat in a LARP. Our group holds an annual auction as fundraiser; we are a nonprofit, so the money raised goes into our site or monster, prop, or costume builds. The shield has special mechanical effects in game and is also meant to be a quality prop, to encourage bidding.

The shield has a removable duck cloth cover in case repairs are needed, the front and sides are foam padded, the arm buckles are adjustable and it's designed to be slipped off the arm easily as needed, handle is suede-wrapped, there's comfort padding behind the arm (shipping blanket sewed inside more duck cloth), and the built-in leather pouch can be opened one-handed and fits three of our standard-size potion bottles.

My boyfriend and I worked together on this - I did the stamping on the straps and designed & painted the cover. He did the construction of the rest of the shield.

The painted design is inspired by some historic finds - a 4th century Danish belt box, and an Anglo-Saxon brooch from the 7th century.

Wow. Very nice shield mark. It feels very historical but does not look like anything I've seen before. Novelty period design.

Thanks! That's a very nice compliment.

I had a library book of costume history I was using for inspiration and reference. The design is mostly pieces of two designs combined into one, with added elements to try to make it work together. I am glad I pulled it off!
