It is very difficult to describe the relationship between these characters, as I cannot retell the whole story..But
The gray dog's name is Neil, he is in an organization that kills civilians. Marshall killed Neil's comrade while protecting the hostages. Neil could not take revenge on Marshall and many years later meets his son, who did not even know about his father's involvement in this murder.
