Not long after she had formed her mercenary army, Sarah fought a pitched battle against a den of fierce slavers who had taken residence in an aincent Ayleid ruin. Though the battle was won, three of her men were killed, two of whom she had befriended. Because of the rocky terrain, they had to buried together, and a token from each was used to mark the grave; the sword of Dane, who lived by it; the amulet of Harold, who always carried it; a flower for Mel, who always woo'd the ladies with it.
