Description

A quick gift for I hope you like it despite it being a bit quick uwu; my eyes hurt while drawing this but I still wanted to draw anyway. The shading is a little weird I think but I blame my eyes and sickness.

Still I like how I got it otherwise done. As in the dragon itself. I hope I didn't forget anything about the design though.

I actually really like this! The design is 100% accurate down to the white spots around the elbows and the shading is better than what I can do Instant fav

Feel better soon though

Yaay I'm glad you like it. I was super worried about the shading but honestly my eyes couldn't let me do any better I mean I think it looks sort of nice, but it's not what I usually do so it looks a bit weird to me that way.

It's been a while since I drew dragons and I always want to do accurate designs but I tried my best. Originally I was supposed to do some light flames there but then I made that eye really pretty in my opinion and didn't want to draw over it :'D

And thanks, hopefully this'll go away soon

The shading is honestly ok, I guess it could be better but I’m not complaining. It looks good as it is
The eye is really pretty and accurate in color, the light flames would’ve probably covered it up and then it wouldn’t be as visible :’D But I really like how it came out

Hopefully

yaay nice

I like the way I learned to do eyes, it's probably the only thing I truly like about my art and yeah, didn't want to cover it due to that :'D

Yas
I wish I could do eyes like that without ruining them :’D

took me a while to figure it out but I generally just do the eyes firstly with the base color I want them to be, usually a bright color because they make the best eyes. then I use gimp's shade and light tool and with the middle shades option and darkening first to the pupil of the eye, just in the middle of it making a darker and darker spot until it becomes almost black and then u have a pupil. then the rest of the shades there somewhere and then the lightening option for those light spots there and boom eye

this wasn't a very good explanation im tired and still sick. i can do a better tutorial on it for gimp someday if people want but idk if anyone would want

Oh ok, I think I understand. I wanna try using that method in the future but I usually just use base color and black. I need to at least start highlighting

You could make a tutorial, I’m interested in seeing one, since I don’t know how to work gimp tools that much

I used to use that too but I found out this just makes it look a little nicer. ...Even if it does take more time than just using black for the middle but still Try highlighting with a lighter color at places and add white if needed. That might work nicely and be fairly easy.

Gimp has a lot of tools yeah, and they seem to confuse most people gimp also has a lot of tutorials going around, basically google how to do something in gimp and you'll find a tutorial for that. I haven't yet came across a thing I wanted to do but couldn't find a tutorial for there's always something. Anyway I could make that one

It looks more real I guess I already use white streaks but those give the eye a shine instead of depth, so I'll try highlighting

I'll look up plenty of tutorials then

I can't do things that look real still, I try my best. I just like pretty eyes.

Try that there sure are a lot, and there's plenty for different versions of gimp but more or less they should work with all versions, though some things might be different

Yeah, me too eyes are at least the easiest to make pretty

Really I just need to get super familiar with the tools so I can do more :'D

True I suppose

Yeah, that's one part of it I know most of the tools (still not all lol) so I can do at least..... decent art i guess

Especially reflections in eyes

I wonder if there’s a stabilizer tool on gimp so lines don’t come out looking jagged and super pixelated

Demintai-Eclipse In reply to Pekinaso [2018-11-06 17:40:45 +0000 UTC]

yeah

yes actually, gimp 2.10 has a stabilizer i'm not sure what's it called in english though. smoothing?? smooth stroke? something like that. here's a picture of what my very finnish toolthingie looks like. when you select the brush tool its the third from the bottom, and checking it opens those bars called quality and inertia. put quality always to 100, but play around with inertia depending on what you need. shorter lines go better with lower (i use normally 180-200), but for long lines suchs as say, wings, i use very high inertia like 400-500.

Usually it's just called a stabilizer but smooth stroke or smoothing would work too and that sounds helpful, I'll need to test it out to see my preference

Something like that I suppose and do test, you'll find what's best for you then
