Description

I made these two cuties from the last scraps of grey curly fabric. After finishing the first one, I felt like something was missing to the design, so I added a goats beard and larger ears to the second one. I love the outcome!

I've named the goat version "Gede-Hans", playing with the Danish words "gedehams" meaning "hornet", "ged" meaning "goat" and the name "Hans". The sheep is named Marty.

Both are 11 cm tall (about 4.3").

Materials: Curly teddy fabric, upholstery suede, minky, plastic safety eyes and polyester stuffing

One of the cutest you've made (in my opinion)

Between the two, the goat is my favorite. The sheep is a wee bit too plain, without more volume to the fur.

Agreed, I like the goat the most too.

I'm pondering if I should add some kind of 3D shape to the face, if I do more sheep. With the later critter designs, the face does feel a bit on the flat side. %D

Not sure. I like the flat face actually.

A flat face saves me a lot of trouble.

When I find some time I WILL make that large sheep I've been dreaming about. %D

Larger than any other plush animal you've made?

demiveemon In reply to liniert [2019-10-06 15:49:30 +0000 UTC]

No. Same size as the large moose and grey lion. Trouble with large plush is that they gobble up a lot of fabric and once they're made, they take up a lot of space too! %D

Hmm yes, true. Me personally, I was never a big fan of too bih (oversized) plushies. Mostly teddy bears. But that's a different case, I'm talking about huuuuuuge ones.

There was a time when I fancied making a huge version of my Mammoth plush. But I figured that I would come to regret it if I ever did. XD

demiveemon In reply to om-ron [2020-01-31 22:41:34 +0000 UTC]

Hm.... the first black eyes I got, were black glass eyes. I found those at a danish webstore (the store is gone now though). These black eyes are made from plastic with safety washers and I got them from the same vendor (glasseyesonline.com) I've been buying colored eyes from for years. So in that regard they weren't hard to find.

Thanks, dear. I'm doing well. I've made a friend, who is as much into crafting as I am, and we've been sewing together a couple of times. Great opportunity to get some of the plushies done, that had been put on ice for various reasons. How are you doing, dear?

Yeah, the summer packed its belongings and pretty much went away from one day to the next here. TheyΓ€ve promised nice weather for a change this weekend though. So I'm hoping the best. A dear friend of mine and her boyfriend are coming to visit us from Germany. They will be spending their vacation here in Denmark, so I'm hoping the weather will be kind to them.

Is it possible to swim in some lake, river or sea in summer in Scandinavia?

demiveemon In reply to pata1 [2019-09-17 22:33:28 +0000 UTC]

Sure, multiple.

I never knew. I thought it's too cold to swim outside there.

Scandinavia has many lakes (especially Finland if I remember correctly). The northern lades might be too cold all year round, further south summers are pleasant so you can go swimming without freezig to death. :3 VΓ€ttern (the second largest lake in Sweden) is fairly close to where I grew up. It is very deep (possibly with a rocky bottom some vague memory of mine seems to suggest) and always remains rather cool. JΓΆnkΓΆping lies at it's southern most shore and I remember vividly how the lake effected the temperatures in JΓΆnkΓΆping. Often chilly and windy there. Some brave souls do swim in there too (I'm no such brave soul %D). Most lakes we have aren't very deep I think.
