"Why not?" you asked, sitting up now and leaning against a palm tree.
She turned her head towards you and sighed. "Because I love Hawaii," she said simply.
You laughed softly. "I don't plan on leaving anytime soon. We can still hangout." You said, then leaned forward and kissed her cheek.
"Thanks," she said, smiling.
You got up and walked back into the water, making sure not to step on her blanket. She followed behind you, splashing in the waves.
"Do you ever miss home?" She asked as you played in the surf.
You stopped playing and turned to look at her. "I don't know," you said, shaking your head. "My family is in Texas. But sometimes, I wonder what it would be like to live somewhere else."
"Like where?" She asked curiously.
You shrugged. "Anywhere really," you said. "Maybe I'd like it better in Europe or something."
Yuri nodded. "That sounds great," she said. "How long have you been here? Only a year, right?"
You nodded. "Yes. I moved here to get away from my family."
"Oh," she said, looking away from you. "I'm sorry."
You shook your head. "Don't worry about it," you said. "You didn't know them."
The two of you talked about your families and other things for awhile until the sun started to set. You stood up and stretched, then went back to her blanket and picked up her things. When you were done, you turned to her and smiled.
"I'm gonna go shower before dinner," you told her, putting on your shoes. "Maybe we can head to my place?" You said softly.
