Description
Jau'q (Jork) is a Vulpaahk, a type of "Dragon-Fox" if you will. Vulpaahks live in small groups but often team up with other Vulpaahks on larger hunts.
Vulpaahks are known to sing an eerie but enchanting song. This is mostly used during mating season to call for a mate (mostly males but females are also know to sing too).

During a raid on a human village, Jau'q was attacked by a human bradishing a longsword. Trying to dodge the attack he leapt over the human, thinking that he had avoided the blade. But he was wrong.

The human swung the blade above his head and cleaved all four of Jau'q's paws clean off.

Rather than kill poor Jau'q they decided to do what comes naturally to humans and make him suffer. The village priest (wizard) put a curse on Jau'q that lacerated his vocal cords and would make him relentlessly spew blood from his mouth. The humans then bandaged his mouth shut so that the blood couldn't escape, inevitably choking him to death.

Shortly after they let him go.
In agony he hobbled from the village on the bloody stumps that were once his paws, whilst humans threw stones at him until he was out of sight.

Due to the spell, Jau'q cannot sing for a mate and has been rejected from his group. He spends his time alone and in pain, with the cursed blood dribbling out his nose and gaps in the bandages.

(clearly I have some type of bandage and blood fetish)
