Hmm, these three seem to share an ambiguity of form, which makes perfect sense. I wouldn't be surprised if there were sub-species of bunyip, though I suspect the shapeshifter thing is a little more likely. Probably more than a few types of chupacabra. Rakshasa, I'm unfamiliar with. Indian mythology is not in my usual bailiwick, though I do have a little basic knowledge. One of the few facts I know about Rakshasa is about their king, Ravana, who is a very prominent figure in Ramayana, which is basically the Indian counterpart to the Odyssey.

It could be either sub-species or shape shifter or it could be mistaken identity which is also a high possibility. There probably different types of chupacabras with some degree of differences such as looking like a bat or a lizard or a dog or even an alien. I don't know much about Hindu mythology either but all I know is that rakshasas are man eaters even when they were first created and were used as soldiers in veriest armies; it is even mention that rakshasas can be good or evil though most tend to be evil due to their cravings for human flesh
