The official definition of a furry is a person who enjoys- and takes interest in anthropomorphic animal characters and identifies as a furry, no fursona required.
Buuuut if you make a furry character that represents you and call it fursona, yea, you're most probably a furry
However, let's say a person creates an anthropomorphic animal character to represent themselves, but rather than calling it their "fursona, they only call it their "alter-ego". In this case there's a chance they might not be a furry.
