I used Coldflame's tutorial. (It's written in my description).
And yeah I started out with tutorials myself, but now I try to find my own ways.
To personalize pictures is very important.

This is really detailed! I love the supernova in the center and the planets are nicely hidden among all that space gas/debris. Appropriate colors, and the blue-ish clouds are really "airy". I can only imagine how many layers you used!

It took me about a day to make this... But to learn Photoshop as well as I know it now, has taken allot of months. I've worked with Photoshop since August 2003.

To make a picture like this, you have to know how to use a brush in photoshop, because most of this picture is brushed and smudged.

Short story:
I started with the colored clouds behind the black ones, after that I made the light in the middle of the picture, because this light has the ability to make all background color look way too bright. Then I started to make the background of the light. When I was done with the colors, I started to make the black/blue fog in front. Then I made the stars and the light from the middle of the nebula.
I think that was about it.
