Save the Egg! Johnna-Claire King

“Hey Tealios what do you have there?” Asked a female child as she ran to an older female’s side. The older female was dressed in a pretty outfit, mainly in the color purple. She had long silvery hair with two small ram-like horns popping out of her head, emerald eyes and a long demonic tail. Tealios looked to the child with a grin. In her arms was a large light blue egg.

“It’s an egg,” Tealios replied, holding the egg so that it was in a better position for the child to see.
“We can see that it’s an egg” A male said as he walked over. He had long dark red hair and bright neon yellow eyes. His outfit was simple as well. He wore a black tunic style shirt, black pants and a pair of old boots. On his head were two black horns.
“Hey Kane.” Tealios replied, smiling. The group continued to their home village, Aleones and was greeted warmly by the other inhabitants. They showed the egg to the town’s leader, a kindly old man by the name of Crowley. He told them that the egg belonged to a dragon and that it was important to keep it safe.

“Keep this egg safe, it belongs to a mother dragon…”

Tealios and Kane went into their homes, Kane guarding the egg for the night. In the middle of the night, about midnight. There was a loud crash, jolting Kane awake quickly. He looked around franticly, searching for the egg. The only thing he saw was a glimpse of a shadowy tail. He cursed loudly at the shadow and started to run after it.
“Hey! Get back here!” he called, sadly he lost the shadow as he was outside. He was horrified to discover what had happened outside, the village appeared to have been torn apart. Tealios was cursing as she tried to strike at a shadow.
Then all of a sudden the shadows left, as if their master suddenly called them back. She looked around, trying to find Kane. Once she did she ran to him.
“Kane! Are you okay? Is the egg okay?” She asked, half out of breath. He took a deep breath and replied “I’m fine.. But the egg was stolen by a shadow.
The two of them met up with Crowley and told him the bad news. He then told them that they must go get the egg back, because if it hatched in the hands of evil, the young dragon would imprint the evil one as it’s parent and become evil itself.
Tealios was scared to go, she had never even left the small forest surrounding the forest, but with Kane’s encouragement she agreed. They left out to find the egg after gathering a few supplies.
As they left their village’s forest they walked on a worn out path for a few miles before entering yet another forest. After a few hours in this forest they were approached by a small male, a nymph.

“Ooh, looks like I’ve found myself a pair of demons!” He said gleefully. “I’ll tell you two what, if you can solve my puzzle, I’ll help you two, if not I leave and lat you guys remain lost!” Kane accepted his challenge and him and Tealios solved the strange puzzle that the nymph gave them. As they were lead out of the forest they learned the nymph’s name, Saiyth. He offered the two to stay with him in his village, to learn the nymph magic. To Tealios this was a tempting offer, she wanted to learn more magic, The egg was much to important to let the young dragon inside of it to become evil. So she politely declined.

They parted their ways as they left the forest, Kane and Tealios continuing on their search, while Saiyth returned to the nymphs. Soon they came upon a group of elves, they helped the two, but their price was to perform a feat of magic. Tealios chose to do the challenge. She made a small sapling grow rapidly into a large tree. The elves helped them, guiding them and letting them rest in their homes for the night. While there, an elf named Yulrexia gave Tealios and Kane the same offer that Saiyth had given them. Tealios knew that elves had very powerful magic, but again the egg was too important.

The elves took the two to the edge of a large mountain, just past Gailof Lake. About half an hour after the elves left, a lesser demon popped up before them in a puff of black smoke. He appeared like a canine, a jackal. His name was Jaecall, he challenged Tealios to a challenge, no help from Kane allowed. She had to solve one of his riddles. It took her a little while but Tealios solved the riddle. Jaecall appeared mad for a few moments before saying.
“Fine, now it’s his turn. If I win I get to kill the two of you.” Reluctantly Kane accepted. The challenge was to defeat Jaecall in a bare handed fight. Kane was an okay fighter, he wasn’t horrible. They fought for almost half an hour, until Kane knocked out Jaecall with a punch to the jaw.
Jaecall was only out for a few moments, as he woke up and slowly stood up he laughed. “Okay, you two win.” He laughed. “As a reward, I’ll give you some help. Firstly, I’ll tell you who took your precious egg.” He was then interrupted by Kane “Wha… How do you know we were looking for an egg?” he asked. The other demon continued, smiling. “You don’t need to know that…. My master’s name is Kaide, you know, his brother. Well he wanted a dragon, and just decided to take your,” He laughed. Kane looked ready to have another fight with the demon. Tealios looked at them both in amazement and confusion.
“You know my brother?” Kane asked, his voice in a demonic growl. He received no reply. Jaecall only laughed and surrounded them all in a purple cloud of smoke. There was a popping noise and they vanished. Reappearing on the top of the mountain, Jaecall laughed again and said “Well, goodbye guys! I hope you have fun!” his voice was taunting as he left, in a cloud of smoke.

The two walked on, soon coming across a large dragon, crying deep red tears. Tealios approached the dragon cautiously, and asked her if she was okay. The dragon told them that she had lost her baby egg, and that her name was Dreval. Tealios told her that she had found an egg, which was stolen from the and also that it was Kaide who stole it. The mother dragon let out a deep growl, thinking. “I will help you two, if you two can give me back my baby. Promise me that.” The two promised.
Dreval gave the two a ride off the mountain, to Kaide’s castle. They rode on her back. She was a great green dragon, appearing emerald in the sunlight. She dropped the two off and gave them a present, a whistle for Kane, in case he needed her again. She flew away, back to the mountain.
Kane looked around, looking for Tealios. He heard her scream and vanish right before his eyes, dragged down into the earth by a shadow.

The shadow pulled her into Kaide’s castle, and spit her out before him. Kaide was taller than Kane, with darker red hair and longer black horns. His eyes were golden, pupils like a snake. His voice seemed almost gentle as he spoke to Tealios.
“Oh my, you and my brother have traveled such a great distance to find me, haven’t you?” She looked at him not speaking a word. He continued “Well, I’ll have to reward you for that. I’ve heard you’re a bit of a magician.. Well…. I’m going to tae you on as my apprentice.” Tealios thought about it, she could learn a few tricks from Kaide and then steal the egg, escape and find Kane.
She accepted Kaide’s offer and he then began to teach her more powerful magic. Meanwhile Kane found his way into the castle, hid silently in Tealios’ new room, having followed her scent. Tealios had taken a book from Kaide, a spell book. She found him I the room and immediately gave him a hug.

They studied the magic in the book and a few hours later they confronted Kaide. As they battled him with magic it appeared as if Kaide was winning. Then Kane performed a curse and cast Kaide into an alternate universe. The universe was contained in a necklace, which Kane picked up and pocketed, saying that it was too dangerous to be left there. They found the egg and called Dreval. They returned to the mountain, just as the egg was hatching, before them was a tiny scarlet dragon with silver eyes. The baby chirped, calling for its mother. Dreval took care of her baby and got an other dragon to take the two home to their village. Kane and Tealios told their story to Crowley any gave him the necklace.
They continued their lives, exploring and was visited every now and then by Dreval and her baby, which she named Draal.
