Species INFO:

Name: Zicale (Zi-cal-e)

Description: Like The Saint Bernard, Zicale's are giant, strong, muscular dog. As long as the weight stays in proportion with the height, the taller the dog the more prized. The massive head is powerful. The muzzle is short, wider than it is long. The teeth meet in a scissors or level bite and fangs grow to jaw length in females and up to 6 inches in males. The nose is broad but small, with wide open nostrils. The large eyes are set somewhat to the sides and are dark in color, bright colors are rare. The large pointed ears are set high. The legs are muscular. The feet are large with strong well-arched toes. The tail is natraly stubed from birth. There are two types of coat: rough, and smooth, but both are very dense and in various color combinations. In the rough-coated dogs, the hair is slightly longer and there is feathering on the thighs and legs. Most coat color combinations consists of two colors, off white and another color but someone times have tri colored coats. They don't talorate warm tepretures very well. Normaly a female will have a litter size rangeing from 4-7 pups, both parents help care for the pups and no runts are pushed away by its parents.

Height, Weight:Height: 25.5-27.5 inches ( 61-70 cm.)
Weight: 110-200 pounds (50-91 kg)

Life Expectancy: About 8-10 years in captivaty, about 12-100 years in the wild.

Grooming and Care: Both types of coats are easy to groom. Comb and brush with a firm bristle brush, and bathe only when necessary. Shampoo may strip the coat of its oily, water-resistant properties, so use a mild soap. The eyes, which may be inclined to water, need special attention to keep them clean and free of irritants. They sheds twice a year. Keep teeth and nails clean and sharp by giveing them bones to chew and scratch on. Keep them in cool climets and give them plenty of space and elevation so they can keep fit and stay strong.

Diet: Raw meat of any animal. No substatute.

Temperment: Normaly very sweet, loveing and social animals. They tipicly live in packs rangeing from 3-7 mebers in the wild, in captivaty they like to live in large families and don't mind shareing space with other animals as long as you teach them from an early age other pets are not food. They love to play rough and nibble so you need to teach these giant animals to play gently and be careful with thier fangs if in captivaty.
