Description
Scene from the Good Omens rp by me and in which Aziraphale encounters Lucifer in the basement of his burning bookshop. Lucifer has learned that Aziraphale is suddenly free from obligations of the Host of Angels. He has free will, though Lucifer actually doesn't know *why* - he doesn't know it's Aziraphale's love for Crowley that prompted God's decision to let them be. What he does know is that Aziraphale has what Lucifer Fell for and didn't get. Lucifer wants to know exactly why God's rules have changed.

Aziraphale looks like he's gonna cry. @.@; Eyes all shiny. Course it could be from the smoke. Yes, there we go - the smoke. >.>;

Aziraphale stopped on the stairs and looked up. Dimly, he realized he'd forgotten to winch in his wings before clearing the area. Not that it mattered, because it seemed his problems were just beginning anyway. He took a step back, paling. Of all that Hell could have sent, he was never expecting . . . "Lucifer. Ah," Aziraphale took another step back, still holding the books in his arms. "Why are you here?" Stupid question. Aziraphale knew the answer, but there was always the slim hope he'd just come for a book.

"I've heard some interesting rumors." he said, tone invariable. He stepped closer to Aziraphale and took his baseball cap off, smoothing his hair back. The baseball cap hadn't done much to negate his looks, but it had done some. His eyes were impossibly blue without the bill hiding them. "Of course, one can't always believe rumors. Especially in Hell." *tag
Aziraphale took the rest of the steps down, startled badly by Lucifer's eyes. His foot missed a step and he stumbled, sending the books flying but managing to catch himself. "What rumors?" he asked, straightening. "And it was you who did this, wasn't it? You set my shop on fire, and sent those children after me."

Lucifer couldn't be bothered to answer that last bit. He followed Aziraphale casually. "Oh, Various and sundry. First, I know you killed two of mine, Dagon and Barnabas. No great loss, really, and it's the first time in ages I've been able to find a pen when I need it." He said casually. "I'm more concerned about the why. And everything relating to it. I don't suppose you'd be so kind as to tell me the proper, sanatized angelic version of the truth?"

This was bad. This was very bad. Aziraphale couldn't let on that it was bad. He took a breath, and kept the rest to himself. "We were in a fight. They were doing something I didn't approve of. Attacked me when I tried to thwart them. You know how it goes with angels." The back of his wings brushed against the wall. There was no escape that way. "Why? Do you want revenge anyway?"

"I'm not interested in revenge. I'm interested in the OTHER rumor that came with it." He reached out and lifted Aziraphale's chin, hands warm and nearly human. "You aren't Fallen. You're not in nearly enough pain for that. So why is it you and Heaven aren't getting along so well these days?"
