Description ➝ Love my Facebook page and I will do something very special for you

It can be a wonderful thing, pressure. I put it on myself to always be better than I was in the past, and while that has to be dialed down a bit sometimes, it seems to be a good rhythm to maintain. Although, I also like putting pressure on my competition, for sport and the intensive rivalry! I don't want to put anyone down, but giving and receiving this pressure tends to be like taking big steps forward. When everyone is committed and one-upping others, crazy heights can be reached! This is the same mindset I had as a kid on the playground, and now it's just being applied in a new way. Therefore, aim to be better than me and I'll do likewise

Thank you so much to all who like what I do, who shares my work, and appreciates all the effort I put into being a great artist. I promise you, I'm cooking something delicious!

Regarding your description:
There is a HUGE difference between negative and positive stresses. Negative stresses are those that cause our minds to spiral out of control, and lead to health problems and even addictions (for most its coffee, but for others it continues onto pills and harder things).
Positive stresses, are that which drive us to do better, but are brought on by positive reinforcement, self discovery, personal goals and determination.

Peer pressure can bring on both...but if the peer pressure is only bringing on the negatives...those peers are NOT the kind you need in your life.

Golden rule: you are who you associate yourself with

Regarding your art...her entire composition is AMAZING. The lighting, expression, textures, hues, and even the lean toward realism, is absolutely fantastic.

I did notice though, that the guys on the left are still very anime-ish in appearnce, whereas the guys on the right, have a bit more realism to them - was that intentional?  As in, a step in your personal progression?

Fantastic, I love reading other people's thought on my stuff, so thank you very much! As for the styles looking a bit different, the lady in the FG is my girl in my style, completely. With the other characters, from other artists, I put in the effort and respect of taking their style into consideration. They still have a taste of my own original work, but I paid homage to the original creators.

Thank you!

Makes sense! I always try to make my next work be better than the last in a noticeable way. It's the only way to improve -- putting pressure on yourself to do better.

Goku, Naruto, Light, and freakin Afro man xD all star list!

Their competition? Vegeta, Sasuke, L, and Justice.

Love how Jaaz is in a meditative pose, almost contemplating the pressure these guys received and gave to others.

You get brownie points for the ripples(either they are ripples or spade designs!) near her feet too

I do have a comment about the rivalry and pressure aspect: I think, in stories, rivalry is excellent because often times the characters applying and receiving pressure are foils of one another; helping to contrast their ideologies and bringing healthy drama to spice up tension. In real life, there aren't very many clear cut foils to people because people are a lot more complex than what stories can capture (without being vague or boring). Applying the same concept of rivalry in real life can be somewhat beneficial, but I've grown to believe over the course of my own journey that my greatest rival is myself, and that I shouldn't be comparing my art to others. Without intending to, I may end up thinking negatively if I try to walk the path of someone else's journey; like I'm not good enough or I'm not doing it right, when in reality we forge our own paths and our own art styles. To compete against anyone else sounds almost counterproductive because no two people are alike, but I suppose it depends on how closely you associate art with life and the metaphysical (I personally find life and art so entwined that they are practically the same journey).

These days, I strive to outpace myself every time I dedicate myself to my craft. I see others on their journeys as fellow travelers, all with a similar goal, but distinctly different paths. I appreciate their ways, then continue on my own. To think that one person's path is greater than any other, and that people have something to prove by overcoming that path is, in my opinion, dangerous to both parties and the bystanders who watch the "rivalry" unfold.

Just some thoughts!

Defintiely thank you for sharing your thoughts man, that is always appreciated and valued. Real quick, I love brownie points. About rivalry, it seems we may be on different sides, but I think it is because our perception. When I compare myself to another artist, I am not using specific stats and numbers, but more a feeling I get. To me, if it feels like an artist is selling out or doing things NOT out of authentic love, I feel like that is someone who is still first discovering art, or they at some point stopped caring much about it, so I would think they still have a long ways to come. Now, when I look at an artist like James Cameron, who made a super kick ass movie that was based on his own ideas and vision, if in a MMORPG, he would be a ridiculously high level. As I work my way in that direction, I don't want to make Avatar of Titanic, I aim to reach a ridiculously high art level, but in my own way. What do you think about that? I find it so motivating, seeing all the great things that can take place when the proper work is put in. I do love the idea of self-competition at the same time, but it is sometimes fun to imagine the game as a Deathmatch, rather than a 1-on-1.

ShinguAmito In reply to DenzelAJackson [2016-06-13 19:18:44 +0000 UTC]

When you say it like that, I feel our thoughts are more similar than not. I'm still a little bit hesitant about the deathmatch aspect, but I also have to admit that earlier in my dA career, I met a few people that really pushed me to up my game (Of course you, but then there was Chace because we were taught by the same guy, etc.) and I remember distinctly having huge bursts of productivity where I put out enormous amounts of work simply because others I respected were doing the same. From that perspective, I can see why it is helpful to see things as a competition. However, I think the key here could also be balancing how often you think like that, because always being competitive can be detrimental if continued for extended periods of time.

It's a lot of fun to think about these things, so thank you for engaging with me and explaining your thoughts!

Thank you Kayla D. I like to leave it open so each viewer can interpret it in their own way, but I will share mine since you asked! For me, these are the guys(the ficional character & the real creators) that pressure me to be great, and likewise they should continue to make the fantastic stuff that they do, because if not I will catch up, say hello, and then keep going. What do you think?

SketchyAznGuy In reply to Ruedefaux [2016-05-09 08:49:22 +0000 UTC]

Im not sure who the top left guy is, but I think the idea is that the characters are all heavily peer pressured. Personally it made me think of how goku is always relied on to 'save the day' fighting through what seems like impossible circumstances and naruto made me think of how everyone thought he would never amount to anything and his journey into becoming as strong as he is and how the peer pressure changed.

Anyways, I love the idea for this work and lime how its drawn, the facial expression looks so silly though lol.

The top left is Light Yagami from Death Note and the botton right I think it is from Samurai Clamploo.

BlessedHellfire In reply to Ruedefaux [2016-05-09 08:42:12 +0000 UTC]

Well I only recognize Goku and Naruto, but if it's a reference to their story arcs that kind of makes sense. Goku and Naruto both train ridiculously hard to become better fighters, constantly trying to surpass limits. I suppose you could argue that this is partially because they both feel 'peer pressure' to succeed and do their best, and the artist sympathizes with these kinds of arcs.

Or maybe I'm totally wrong, who knows?
