I've always resisted using jesses but relented in this case as this individual was deemed twitchy and still incapable of surviving on his own should something startle him.

In fact, shortly after this photo was taken (before we could replace the string with leather strips) he panicked at the sudden sighting of a cat and took off for a night and a day before he finally returned, very thirsty and very hungry.

He no longer wears jesses and comes and goes at will. Any day now he will be roosting with his fully wild brethren.

I still hate jesses.
