Description

These were the two lead characters in the last Short Film I starred in almost a year ago.  Dave is essentially the main character and the Man in the Mask is more or less the main antagonist, who I had the pleasure of playing for the film.  In fact, the Man in the Mask might be the most fun I've ever had in a short film, largely because it starts with me saying "MacBeth" over and over in an open theater.  XD

The central premise is Dave's wife is killed in a hit and run.  So, Dave, torn apart by grief and rage, tracks the driver down and kidnaps him with the intention of brutally murdering his wife's killer.  Along for the ride is a man in a mask, gleefully steering Dave all the while to seeing his vengeance through.  But all throughout the short, Dave is constantly receiving calls from a woman pleading with Dave not to do what he's planning on doing, making Dave more and more conflicted as the story progresses.  And the more conflicted Dave is about getting revenge, the more aggressive the Man in the Mask becomes, starting out cracking jokes and making light of the whole situation, to the point where he's eventually screaming in Dave's face to be a man.

The film is pretty bottleneck.  It's mainly the actor who played Dave and me the whole time, with voice over from the woman on the phone.  The actor who played Dave was awesome, and it's even more amazing because he doesn't say a word the entire film.  All his acting was done completely with his body and face, while the woman and phone and I pretty much did all the talking for him.

You can probably guess why that is, but in a nutshell, the Man in the Mask is basically Dave's vengeful side, egging him on to see through what he started.  And the woman on the phone, played by the actress who played Dave's wife, is his conscience, urging him not to do something he knows he'll regret.

I've always enjoyed playing villains a lot more than the nice guys, and what made the Man in the Mask so much fun was basically playing it so I was becoming steadily more and more unhinged as the story unraveled until Dave finally makes a decision which, sufficed to say, results in one of my favorite lines to have ever uttered in a film.

"...You...fucking pussy...*drops dead*"
