Inspired both my Jeff Smith's mini-series and the NEW series, "Billy Batson and the Magic of SHAZAM!" by Mike Kunkel.I've always loved the character of Captain Marvel and love the more traditional, all ages stories that are being done lately in contrast to the angst-filled stuff in the regular DC universe. As such, I wanted to do a piece that played to that more magical universe Smith gave us and that Kunkel is playing in now. I guess if I got MY shot to play, it might look like this.

Ironically, this drawing helped put my name in the list of possible artists to work on the new series after Mike Kunkel left, but alas, 'twas not to be.

I had a friend who was up to write a Shazam series.
They had accepted his pitch till Jeff Smith came along a while back.
It would have really shook up the whole concept of the Marvels in a good way.
