Just imagine someone would upload your work and claim all the fame.
It´s not a nice feeling.
Pixiv and its artists are doubtless a great source of inspiration for our artwork,
but if people keep stealing from those, the artists on Pixiv will step by step retreat from making their art available to the Western audience, that would suck!
Please respect the original creator.

It´s just most artists don´t even accept artwork which is referenced on theirs,
so please ask them for permission first.
It´ll save you a lot of trouble.

It would have been best to ask the artist first for permission before even creating the piece. I have talked with 海洋 before through messaging on Pixiv. This is not the first case this has happened to this Japanese artist and they asked me to let the artist know they want the piece down, all of them have taken it down per request when I show them a screenshot of the message from the original artist. If the artist does not take it down, I send the original artist an e-mail address to report the image to DA.
Crediting is not enough for some artists. I have found people uploading my works, editing it and re-coloring it without permission but gave credit. I said no and asked them to take the art down. It is my work. I want my work to be unique and not used and credited by other people. I want people to come to me for my art, not other people who want to be a "2nd" me.

I don´t think we would have this problem
if people started crediting the original creators in the first place.
But it´s definitely too late, which is a shame. : /
I mean, you can always have an idol because of the style or anything,
so references are okay, but not even this is given here.
And you´re definitely right about asking 海洋 first.
I just hope the artist who uploaded the Jiraiya-pic didn´t know
that it was definitely 海洋´s...but it doesn´t change the fact
that he never ever should have credited himself for the overall idea.

You have no idea how many artists on Pixiv I report to. I meet a few good friends this way but it shouldn't be because of circumstances like this.
I know of only one Pixiv-hentai artist who doesn't mind their works being traced/colored.

I can imagine it´s just too much.
Even one stolen artwork is already too much.
I just find it disrespectful,
I 'learned' from some Pixiv artists how to color digitally
without them ever giving me a tutorial,
I just kept staring at their artwork.
To me they´re all precious, and people stealing from them is just inappropriate to say the least.
