Description This is one of a scratch art piece I did earlier this year in my art class. I was so nervous because I've never worked with scratch art before but I'm really happy with how it turned out :]
I'm considering of doing a few more, maybe an instrument series?

You play the violin? Ugh, those instruments are just so beautiful! I really wish I kept up with my playing. I bought new strings for my violin but need to find a place to help me restring them (it's just been too long haha) My roommate is really big into music as well, so I'm hoping to start with "book 1" again and work my way up. My violin has some resin dust beneath the bridge so I've been looking around for a place that can help me clean it (or point me in the right direction so I can learn what to clean it with myself) but so far, no dice

Gorgeous instrument, though. I'm also super in love with the cello. (It's that low resonance... absolutely beautiful!)

Yeah I do play violin, err practice not really play. Literally ten minutes ago I got frustrated over my violin practice haha. Sometimes I wonder why I even play.
But it seems awesome that you're picking up violin again. Aw I'm rootin for ya that you find a place to patch up your violin soon! Oh what does your roommate play?

yeah...the violin really is beautiful. But I won't ever play it if not for a piece assigned to me. hm, I'm jealous of the people who play it of their free will.
Ah cello now that is truly a magnificent instrument. that deep rich sound so beautiful. kind of like dark chocolate thinking about it. ah i made myself hungry for chocolate and music.
But what I'm also in love with is the piano, such a versatile instrument that can play practically anything, accompaniment, and solo. Violins are normally solo, and its hard to produce certain songs that sound better on piano

Oh I hear ya! In the moment, I was always wondering "why am I doing this, again"? (Not to mention when I would first try to tune and then pop a string haha) But you hear the music and remember "ah... that's why!" My roommate plays the violin and is learning piano. She graduated in music composition so she's really fantastic with theory and such in general. (One of those people who can listen to a melody and automatically come up with the harmony haha) She composes a lot of songs through digital software, though. It's super interesting to watch/listen!

That's the same for me with piano! The songs my teacher assigned weren't as fun for me, so I loved it when we were finally out of the books and I could bring my own music! I did some classical, but would sometimes bring songs from games like Zelda, FFX, or Kingdom Hearts. (And, to my surprise, she loved it as well!) I'd learn the simpler tunes like "Dearly Beloved" on my own, but she would help with a lot of the tricky ones. Dang, this makes me wanna find a piano and play... it's been faaaar too long -_-'

I like what you said about the cello (especially about the dark chocolate! haha great comparison xD)

ah wait when you tune do you loosen before tightening? that makes it easier and if the E string is tightened by a fine tuner, then loosen that before tuning (I broke my E string without loosening once haha)
hmm yeah, the music is great. ah congrats and a high five to your roomate! oh man I'm horrible at theory, oh what kind of songs does she compose?

haha yeah kingdom hearts has great music! and ff7 too. ah now I'm jealous that you played piano, I don't even play it but still want to. And the piano a few meter away from me. lol
well I'll hope you find a piano soon! Maybe I'll go play around with the piano at my house haha

ah thanks! x3

That's a great idea! I had a friend of mine tune it for me once in Jr. High/High School sometime because she was pro and I popped too many strings. She accidentally popped the A string and the bridge snapped along with it. Oh my gosh, it was the loudest, most frightening thing haha we jumped so bad xD I think that's what gets me now-- that anticipation..

I can play a few songs but mostly the ones I've already been playing for years and years ^^' I found this Legend of Zelda piano book at a music store last year so I've been working through that one at my own turtle pace ^^' (There's just something fulfilling about playing songs you recognize/that are geeky haha) DO IT!! haha that's where it all starts

This is awesome!!

Just to clarify, is scratch art the one where you scratch on the metal and then cover it in ink, running it through a heavy press print to get an image on paper (coz i remember doing it in art classes from school years)

Or is it the one where you scratch on paper covered with the heavy layer of.....ink I think?

I am just not sure what it is called in English)

Oh, so cool! I've always wanted to try that. Sounds like a cool process. A little tedious, but it's so beautiful!

No, this was from a sheet of scratch paper. There are lots of different kinds but I choose a black sheet (with white underneath) and scratched away with an xacto knife [: It was my first time trying scratch art, and I wasn't used to using many other mediums other than graphite or charcoal, but it's turned out to be one of my favorites!
