I'm most of the way through my sketchbook and was really starting to miss painting... So I took the sketch for "Cold Stare" and decided to use it as kind of a practice for color & value. I haven't had much formal training on value but my friend was super sweet and gave me a crash course last week between her busy schedule. I still have a ways to go, but I think this helped me get at least a step closer to understanding the concept ^^

"Take chances! Make mistakes! Get messy!" (Brownie points to anyone who can name that quote!)
The original sketch for this was inspired by a few concepts from my childhood as well as discovering that someone bumped the house temperature down to 65 degrees Fahrenheit haha
