Just a thought-
I personally wouldn't do this.
A few weeks ago, my friend was doing something very simular to this, but her horse was nibbling on the stirrup iron.
Well, the horse got his teeth stuck in the iron, and freeked out. She started rearing, and then since she was cought in the iron, freeked even more, and fell /ontop/ of the rider.
I don't really find this safe, but some horses are different than others
