And what exactly did you do?
You haven't rendered the model by yourself, hair isn't yours, textures aren't, background isn't....

Your comments show a lack of artistic maturity. Art can be and is achieved through many many processes. Just because you don't understand or agree with a medium doesn't devalue the piece or deny it artistic credit.
If you took the time to know this artist you would see that she does infact create many of her own backgrounds. She spends time creating her own skin textures as well and other intricate details in her pieces. She also gives back to her comunity by helping her peers test their products.
While we're on the subject of what has value for a career, photomanipulation skills are very valuable indeed for a graphic designer. Perhaps you should make an effort to try some of these artforms (and make them look good) before you talk out your ass next time.

You clearly have no concept of the software beyond a preconceived notion with little to no experience to back it up. It's too bad that you put such high value in other artists who are too prejudice to see the value in someone elseโs work.

Hm... no... those artists all know how to use poser and clearly stated that it cannot be used for high-end art. But when you learn anatomy and more about facial expressions and blablabla about it you may understand how wrong the poser model is and it cannot be used for quality art because of these mistakes. Only for reference. And Poser is really cheap. It's like taking someone else's sculpture, paint it and claim it as my own art.

if you had a clue about what you were talking about you'd know there's a lot more to poser than " the poser model ". There's easily 50+ poser models ( male female alien baby cartoonish etc ) available for purchase and use.
seriously, you are talking out of your ass until you have spent some time inside the program and community.

Precisely - just as if I bought someone else's sculpture and painted it. Same here - you buy models and modify them, clothe them and so on....

its a colossal waste of time to start a model from scratch instead of use a preexisting one and fix it.
Have you ever had to rig a model for posing? Animations and such ?
Yeah didn't think so. most companies would want you do your job as cheap as you can. they don't want to pay you for 500+ hours of work of creating something that already exists and would serve their needs just fine. There's a reason DAZ3D is a millionaire company.
Aside from that, most of what Eve does is for pure hobby. As it is for many many many other poser artists. Poser starts out as a hobby for pretty much anyone that gets into it, and later do they start making profit.
Seriously, this is a losing battle. You should just stop replying because you really do come across as an ignorant fool.

So do you say photomanipulators aren't artists too, because they don't take their own photographs? This is same kind of thing, you take individual elements and combine them as one scene. The better you are, the more flawless it looks; with eye-catching color, composition, lighting, etc. like our brilliant Eve does. It takes lots of practice and talent to be this good.

Photomanipulators, in general aren't artists unless they take their own photos.
This is done in Poser, as obvious. If it was done in some more complicated 3d software, 3Dsmax for example, I wouldn't have written what I wrote. Anyone with basic knowledge can make something like that. It took me one day to learn to make the 3d chessboard in my gallery. It won't take me more than another one to learn to texture and maybe a week to learn to make human models in 3d max. It doesn't require skill to make such thing in program as Poser.

so.. have you actually tried doing anything in poser?
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
NogarKhaz In reply to vexiphne [2008-09-11 17:01:04 +0000 UTC]
Well.. no. I prefer learning 3dsmax and zbrush than wasting time with something that won't help me with life at all. So far I've never seen someone to want someone else to be able to work with Poser. All require 3dsmax, Maya and some Zbrush may come in handy too. Poser looks like a dress up game to me... you are given a (completely anatomically wrong) model and you should dress it up, make it up and blah blah blah... nothing unusual and complicated.

Yeah well, before you go acting like you know how simple the program is, you should at least have some experience with it.
Poser has been used in TV commercials. But aside from that, Many people pay for commission artwork from Poser users. and they pay good money. Just because you don't see people offering a 9-5 job for using Poser every day doesn't mean its not profitable. I run my own poser store and do very well making Poser products.
Just a head's up. Modeling is not the same as doing poser artwork. So don't try to compare them and act like you're better than those that use Poser. There's new models being made all the time trying to become "anatomically correct". These very models are used by a LOT of people that buy from DAZ3D and render using Cinema 4D and 3Ds max. Just because you see heaps and loads of crappy poser renders on DA doesn't mean anything. You see heaps and loads of crappy 3ds max models too. And heaps of loads of other mediums of crappy pictures.
Just because you probably stole your copy of 3ds max does not make you any better than anyone. The elitist attitude stinks and you look stupid.

Completely anatomically wrong? Which parts are wrong sweety? The two arms, two legs, one head, ten fingers, ten toes? I don't see your issue possum.
And really, before you jump in and criticise someone else's artistic vision and creation, it would be nicer if you just kept your judgmental attitude to yourself. Noone really cares if you don't like poser. Noone really cares if you think being creative in a medium you haven't used or understand is not going to help you with life at all. Good for you.
The complexity or otherwise is all in the detail and the time spent in manipulating a tedious and complex scene.
And you would know lots about that, with all the coloring in you do. Oh wait... that's just like what kiddies do in kindertgarten isn't it? Stay between the lines, sweety, there's milk and cookies coming up and then its nap time.

Coloring is a profession and people get paid to do it. I do it for fun an practice my coloring.
Poser is famous with its anatomically wrong model (the biggest mistake are the shoulders)... oh whatever...
