Description This necklace is special

The crochet portion of this necklace was made by my mom. She's given me several 'unfinished' crochet pieces that I can jazz up with my own beadwork. This is the first of many to come and I'm very extatic about it. It turned out better than I had visualized it in my head, that rarely happens lol. Unfortunately, the picture really doesn't do it justice, I'll be getting dressed up someday soon so I can show it off and snap a picture.


I don't know the details on the crochet, but I've added a cameo I got out of a box of old jewelry some years ago, in a setting I picked up at a bead store I thought would be perfect for the lonely cameo. Also, it's hard to see but there are faceted glass beads in each of the points to either side of the centerpiece that catch the light. More faceted glass dangles from the cameo setting.

This, unlike most of my necklaces, is not a choker. It's loveliest laying just on the collarbone, it's adjustable in the back.

I have never listed this one in my shop, though I do still have it. I'm not currently selling or shipping anything until after the holidays because I have a baby arriving any day now. But if you're still interested in January I can list it for you.

that is sooooooooooo cool! i love how this looks, it calls upon memmories of the wild west ladies in fancy dresses.. yet it looks modern too! its such a cool piece1 nice work!

I don't know how she does it, insane amount of detail and repeated patterns.... it would give me a headache. I sit here and wonder how she does it and she sits there and wonders how I weave chainmaille. It's interresting......

I was thinking it was victorian looking also, which I was pleased with because no matter how hard I try I can't quite peg victorian... and this time I wasn't even trying.

I was SO happy that the setting was the perfect size for the cameo I had. I'm always on the lookout for cameos at yard sales and flea markets and thrift stores. A girl can not have too many cameos....

I used to wish you could buy things like that at the stores also. But it's so much nicer to have her make them for me. She enjoys it. Perhaps crafts shows might have something similar you can add your own flair to. I've always bugged her to enter one.

I have tried looking at vintage shops, etc for some of the nice things she finds and never have any luck. I don't know how she manages to find all the great things she does. I think I am going to have to give up and just start buying stuff from her. LOL
