Description
The sun sets quickly in the middle of winter. This mustang finds herself on a snowy hillside where the shadow of night has already overtaken the ground. Yet it is not so late as the sun still strikes the sides of snow capped peaks in the distance. Between those mountains and the black maned, pinto coated wild horse lies a line of fir trees. She head for a gap in those trees. Perhaps through there she will find some natural shelter from the freezing night.

This work largely started out as an exercise in making mountains. They looked so interesting though that I decided to make a full scene from it. I tried a variety of animals, and finally settled on a horse as the pinto coat added some warm color to an artwork that was looking a bit cold.
