Description

One of the planet’s oldest denizens. Baragon originates from a time long before the dinosaurs and is most likely the last remaining member of an extremely large species of Synapsids. The horned monster is one of the few that that have been confirmed to be older than King Ghidorah and could have even been involved in the battle centuries ago that drove the space monster away from the Earth. Despite being much smaller than other kaiju, Baragon has an extremely aggressive temperament and doesn’t back down easily. Unlike the similar attitude held by Anguirus, however, Baragon is able to boast that he is capable of holding his own against far greater threats and has established victories against the likes of Megalon, Battra and even held his own against Godzilla a few times.

Baragon is also one of the few monster’s who’s diet consists entirely of meat, preferring cattle and similar livestock but he has been known to feed on humans if he can’t find his preferred food. He is also the only monster known to prefer his food cooked and uses his heat ray to burn away fur (and clothes) of his meal and bake the flesh before consumption.

Baragon doesn’t have the most impressive firepower in the kaiju kingdom, boasting only a heat ray that he can fire from his mouth. This ray isn’t very explosive but can be used to start fires and scald his opponents. Its general purpose is to soften hard rock for him to burrow through easier. Additionally, Baragon’s large nasal horn acts as a flashlight in the dark and naturally glows with a yellow bioluminescence. Finally, Baragon’s hind legs are surprisingly powerful and can launch the small monster up to 250-meters in one bound.

Baragon prefers to stay deep underground for months at a time. His penchant for digging has made it impossible for Monsterland to keep him contained for he can dig through all Earthly materials. When Baragon does emerge, it is generally for rest, food or both. He generally only remains on the surface for a week or two and uses his heat ray to warm up his claws and then repeatedly drags them across the ground, sharpening them for future combat if needed. Baragon’s vacant tunnels and burrows have become popular tourist traps while at least one has been converted into a highway tunnel system.

Due to his smaller size and aggressive attitude toward other beasts, G-Force personal often refer to the monster simply as “Grumpy.” Other nicknames include “Red Dwarf” and “Horny Cutey” (because some people think he’s cute for some reason).

Cool stuff! The stance and pose are really reminiscent of old-school depictions of ceratopsian dinosaurs, like something you'd see in the 30's-50's.
