I like the detail, it seems to almost come off the page. The backgroung is interesting also, how did you decide to make that the back ground?

hmmm i was going through a phase of swirley things... i had been trying to incorporate the swirley objects into everyday things. when i was taking my drawing class i had done some drawings/paintings of just the s. objects......my teacher wasn't too impressed and said they lacked content (which i hate to admit that he was right)
so, me being the rebel i am... i tried to combine the objects with some content....best of both worlds.
in regards to the moon, stars, and the funky ripple... all philosophy!

thnks for commenting hank

now i need to be able to critiwue your work on here.....whatcha think? huh? huh? huh?

That is awesome, i really enjoy it. I love how much depth it has, it really stands out... This is great. I love the contrast between the foreground and the night sky...

i get nostalgic when i look at this. it's beautiful. the intricate details are so middle-eastern looking. i can see the detail pouring out of your pen!

beaumont, interesting, i'm in austin. aaand glacier, that place is beautiful.

i like the smaller version more, the bigger seemed to blurred to me. the actual piece, though, i love it. doing lines so repetitiously as that is incredibly tedious, and i commend you for that! i think it's a gorgeous piece.

yeah beaumont is the armpit of Texas I think....used to live in Austin a couple of years back. moving to san marcos in Jan. 2004 extremely excited!

yeah, I don't know why the bigger version blurred so bad...it confounds me, half the stuff I have on here don't look any different when they are in full view...except that one.
I was pleasently surprised that this piece only took a couple of hours to complete. By that time I had gotten into the groove, no stoppin' me then.
Thanks for you comment and fav. appreciate it

interesting, especially the way the parts seem so separate,
seeming visually like collage. the closed forms are a good idea,
I think, I thinnke they activate the pattern more than if those
borders were not there and especially as they disappear
into the shadows. I especially like the over-under at the
top part of the hand.

thanks for the fav!

if you don't mind me asking....when you first looked at it and you thought you wouldn't like it, what made you feel that way?

please don't feel that you'd hurt my feelings, being an art student I have critiques all the time. i've realized that ppl can only better their art if ppl tell them what is good and what is bad.

thanks again

at first (in the thumbnail) it looked exceptionaly flat. nor could I see the details. It just looked like a grey hand and a grey flower against a night sky. that's pretty much it. all because of the thumbnail. not really anything you did.
I really like how you put the peices together... flat, but not. kinda like oragami. I've never seen anything quite like it before.

Where do you go to school at? I haven't taken art classes since ninth grade. I'm attempting to remember all that I had learned, but it's been a while. trial and error 101.

I'm attending Lamar University in Beaumont, TX....the art department is not exceptionally good. it's a very figurative school. a couple of the teachers aren't too bad though. I've been taking art classes since about 2000. there's so much out there that it's hard to remember everything. I learned mainly from looking at everyone else's artwork......

good ol' trial and error, I've made so many beneficial mistakes.... I would have to say that that's one of my favorite processes
