Very nice use of composition and colour. Immediately the form of the lines appears very striking and extremely bold.
You've really captured the fierce mane of the lion very nicely; the outwards motion very confronting and the way all the lines seem to explode out of the image creates such a powerful, dynamic apparel.
The way the face is pushed out heightens the impact even more, and having that attention focused on the face allows the lion's character to really shine, utilising the mane as more of a background to the central focus.
I feel as if the slight curve-back of the lines around their roots, particularly seen in the lines nearing the top, creates this powerful impression as if the lines were bouncing back and emanating from the face, allowing for the ferocious, explosive outwards motion to be effective on both the face and the mane.
This is even more so with the perimeter of line around the face of the design; whilst most of the swirls are extremely fluent in terms of flowing in relationship with each other, the way the lion's face is sharply cut and in a very definite shape with those conflicting line directions heightens the impact of the face significantly, contrasting its form against the mane very strongly.
The colour is another major feature in supporting the highlight of the face; the vibrant, fierce oranges around the perimeter of the mane deepen as the image draws nearer to its epicentre, and with the sudden burst of the much brighter oranges, quite the powerful apparel is achieved, bringing out the face even more whilst still retaining some focus on the mane.
This conveys quite the explosive feel to the image, making it look like as if a sudden burst of line and colour is emanating from the ferocious face.
The use of symmetry levels out the image very nicely, further sharpening up the dead-straight gaze of the lion.
I feel as if the way the lines of the mane thin and curl out in a cohesive, graceful manner paired with the symmetry really gives the design a very nice relationship with the background.Β Again, the impact of the explosive line direction is still strong but also has a very soft transition into the empty space, conveying a slick, cohesive feel to the dynamic lines.
The power and impact of this image is simply superb, the colour and line direction working together to convey a very explosive look that immediately captivates the audience, particularly with those very vibrant, very red eyes.
The ferociousness of the creature is expressed brilliantly and the fluent use of the tribal art style applies a lovely sense of grace.
Altogether, it truly is as beautiful as it is stunning.
