“You’re with me, white boy. Get out of those filthy clothes and meet me outside in ten minutes,” She pointed a meaty finger at him as a threat, he couldn’t help but laugh at the ridiculousness of it all. Shy was glad to be rid of a disgusting prison jumpsuit and the clothes beneath it, he’d kept them on until now in anticipation of the ass kicking he’d finally received. No reason to bleed all over the one and only good pair of clothes he’d probably own in a long time, if ever, that he’d found down locked up with his name on the box. He’d also found his sister’s necklace which was never leaving his neck again if he could help it. When he’d finished changing and had tossed the old, blood stained clothes out for good, he found Lorna outside sucking on another cigarette.

“You should quit, you know, bound to run out eventually, why not make it on your terms?” He asked, half expecting her to hit him. Instead she just laughed and tossed him a grey and white headband that looked similar to the one she was currently wearing, rolling her eyes all the while.

“Worry less about me and more about those bangs, you can’t see anything like that,”

“I can see just—“

“Put the headband on, Cabron,”

Shy frowned, but complied, pushing the cotton headband up and over his hairline – some of his bangs poked out stubbornly, but for the most part it served its purpose, not that he felt that the curls across his forehead were any real issue, it was best not to argue with a woman who had already proved just how easily she could crush him. By the time he finished tying it off Lorna was already a few feet away walking like she knew he’d meet her pace. She was right, damn it.

They walked in silence, mostly, heading out past the town into an area that was covered in shin high dry grass the color of dirt. “You’re learning how to make a rabbit snare, and later you’ll learn to skin them,” Lorna finally spoke up, making him glance from her to the field and back again. The idea of leaving out snares in this kind of environment was laughable, wouldn’t another survivor just come along and steal their catch? He didn’t laugh, though, he just nodded and followed her into the grass, looking around anxiously for any sign of walkers. So far they seemed to be lucky enough not to have any, but who knew how long their luck would hold?

Shyanne spent the next hour or more being taught how to check, make, and properly rotate snares, even the best way to tie up their catch to make transporting it easier and allow him more mobility. There was no way he'd remember all of this, but it was a start, and he had fresh kill hanging from each hand on a rope, so clearly his doubt hadn't been very well placed. As they walked back to the prison, Shy found himself laughing with Lorna, listening as she told a tale about the scars on her face and forearms, claiming to have wrestled with a black bear,

"And I beat it, too, Cabron! Don't laugh, it's true!"

If this was what he had to look forward to on trips with her, the redhead felt he was going to enjoy having her as his Keeper very much.

Shy finally gets some bonding time with his Keeper, Lorna, and she's determined to learn him a thing or two in the process.
