Description Inspired by stories of Peter Stuyvesant and his silver and gem-encrusted peg-leg, and GΓΆtz von Berlichingen's iron hand.

If late medieval armorers and watchmakers had the means to make an hand that could open, close and hold a sword, what might they have done with a leg?

I must admit that it is quite nice. Lovely designs for the leg.

very medieval looking work, nice and fitting.

hmmm...what would be the medieval monetary equivalent of a million dollars? "we can rebuild him...we have the technology...we can make him slower, weaker, rustier!" XD

never knew about the hands they could work. interesting indeed. also, nice designs for the leg. they seem to come out quite practical.

Ahaha. I love how stylized it is. Looks quite cool.

On an entirely different note, there's an exchange student in my AP Chem class from Guatamala. GUESS WHAT LANGUAGE THEY SPEAK IN GUATAMALA AND GUESS WHAT SHE LOOKS LIKE!

Is that true about the hand, in the description?? If so, I'd be amazed!

It is. Look up "GΓΆtz von Berlichingen" on wikipedia, or use it as a search term in Google Image Search. It's pretty cool, actually!

Wow, that's amazing! I imagine he had to use the other hand in order to manipulate it, but that had to make his life a lot easier. Looking at Wikipedia, he must've been quite a character...

did he lose the leg in battle?

I'm not entirely sure. The idea was that his leg was crushed when his horse collapsed on him -whether that was in battle or from a freak accident, I haven't decided.
Medical technology being what it was, if the bone could not be set back into place cleanly then amputation was necessary; otherwise the surrounding area would mortify, gangrene would set in and the patient would die.
