"Fear will rise. Willpower will gather. And a wave of light will unleash the truth behind the power of the ring."The War of Light finally reaches Equestria. The Corps will choose their champions, and they will do battle for this sector.
For Love: Nobility and a sheltered life cannot keep the Princess of Love from her destiny, for the Violet Light seeks her out, fashioning her into a formidable warrior of the Star Sapphires.

As a member of the Star Sapphires, Princess Cadance definitely defines love.

Cadance fired a rapid succession of blasts at her husband, who set to work dodging and blocking them with his signature barrier magic. TheΒ EquestrianΒ bearer of the Light of Love summoned several sword constructs in quick succession. Shining Armour was able to block the first three, but the fourth one tripped him up and the fifth and sixth hovered over his chest. The man put his hands up. "I surrender." The princess of the Crystal Empire dismissed the constructs and helped her husband to his feet. "You've gotten better." Shining remarked as Candance charged her ring and joined him in his walk through the castle.
Cadance sighed. "I have to. Who knows how long it will be before the changelings attack again?" Shining put an arm around her, and she leant her head on his shoulder, her Star Sapphire ring pulsing with the love they shared. It had been a week since Cadance had received her ring. During that time Twilight had written to inform her that Pinkie Pie and Zecora had both received powers similar to her own, and they should be on the lookout for any other individuals with these power rings, as not everyone would be willing to do the right thing with them.
A rumbling like an earthquake ripped through the floor, throwing Cadance from her thoughts. Then, a pair of sleazy voices.
"Attention Crystal Empire! We are Agent Orange! Surrender your city and you will be spared!"
Cadance looked to Shining. "Stay here and put up a barrier around the city. I'll deal with them."
Shining ran to do his duty and Cadance turned to a convenient window, jumping out and flying towards the rather obvious giant orange megaphone. It would see Twilight's fears had come to light, but she would be damned if she let her kingdom down again.

To answer your question I'm going to ask you one: Is love evil? Or dose love lead to you doing evil things? Makes you wonder what love truly is and what it means to be in love.

Well, I'd say they're antagonists, but not villains. More often than not, especially in the newer, post-War of Light DC universe, the Star Sapphires tend to be on the same 'side' as the Green Lanterns (or at least, Hal Jordan) despite differing modus operandi and goals - allies of circumstance, really. Sure, they have come into conflict a lot of times before, but recently the SS and GLC have been on more or less neutral terms.
