Description
This is Edward Elric's Automail arm from Full metal alchemist. It took approx 33 hours to complete. It is made from polystyrene, vinyl and sheet metal. It is light weight, very flexible and durable. It straps to the body with clear vinyl straps so it looks like it is actualy attached to the arm.I do custom jobs and take comissions. For more info visit my site:

um i have a question do you have any tips on how to make these because i wanna make one myself but i dont know how i would like one but not looking like ed's i have some cocept art but im not sure (with my newbish skillz and all) if i can tackle the task cause i want it to be authentic

I can send you detailed instructions if you like but customizing it is goin to take some fooling around with. Ultimately the only change you will have to take between my instructions and your custom ones are to change the base pattern.
In order to do this you will have to try and figure out what the shape of your design wi8ll look like if it is flat then use scrap paper to cut out the design and fit it onto your model or yourself and keep working with it until it looks right.
Once you get a usuable pattern you can begin construction.

So you want to comission an automail? I would be more than happy to make one for you but I have to warn you that is is expensive. It costs me $80 just in supplies and over 40 hours of time to make it.
For the full arm in 4 sections I charge $200 plush shiping.
For just the hand I charge $75 plush shipping.

How to make the Automail eh? Its quite complicated really and supplies are a little expensive... I can tell you that you can get the supplies on Ebay. You need a roll of silver adhesive sign vinyl, and Styrene which is the thin plastic used to make model cars. Use the styrene size .10 and .20. You will also need alot of hot glue, paper fasteners or studs and craft foam. If you email me I can send you the instructions I used and they helped a ton but ITS A HUFE TEXT FILE AND I dont think i can send it through here. If you want also- I custom make them nd could just amke you one.

I am doing a really mangled version of ed cosplay this yeat. Its gonna look great. i tore up the costume pretty good but not too much so it looks bad. Check out my page after july ^_^ And thanks for the comment. It took soooo long to make it ^_^. I am a huge fangirl too and am also short and have long blonde hair lol.
