Well this pic had been a long time comming. It's practically been a year, but I finally got around to making the 1st place contest prize that won in the Ghost of a Chance Contest I had last Halloween. Tim gave me a choice on who to draw and it was between Dipper and this little orange guy from Wander Over Yonder. Having not seen any of the shows, I guess I kept it safe and chose the human character. XDHooo.... spent a lot of time on this one. I think I converted Dipper into an anime style decently. Although since I've never seen Gravity Falls, I sure hope this is in character. lol Spent a lot of time on playing with the lighting that came from Dipper's flashlight and I'm pretty happy with it!
Spend hours and hours on the cave walls. I forgot how long it took to render rocks, bu I'm pretty happy with the results. 
I then spent a lot of time on doing film grain/ white noise effects. Followed this really cool tutorial here: mikeyjam.buzznet.com/user/jour… I also made a version without the film effects here: sta.sh/0127t67ns6dp

(I know you probably aren't doing this anymore, but I'll just do it for other people) Why I like Gravity Falls (for me, at least) is for multiple reasons. One of them is the interesting plot. And that plot keeps moving. I mean, my friends tried to get me into Marvelous Ladybug last week, and I noticed how that plot just kind of stays at a standstill. It's just the same thing, over and over. But in Gravity Falls, nearly every episode has something that keeps the plot moving, or just develops the character. But either way, it keeps things moving.
Another reason is the characters. They are very realistic. Like in Boyz Crazy when Dipper (spoiler warning) broke Wendy and Robbie up, he asked Wendy out. And he fully expected her to say yes, because, you know, he saved her from a jerk and she should be happy, right? Wrong. She said she couldn't believe how they were acting and why would she go on a date right after a breakup? Then she storms away crying, and Dipper realized how selfish he was acting (end of spoiler). I really like that scene because it took a huge turn from what you expected but it also showed how Wendy might feel about the whole ordeal. It wasn't just one side of a coin. The characters are real and relatable and really fun to toy with in fanfictions.
Reason three: the art is absolutely amazing. The backgrounds, shading, and important scenes look absolutely fantastic. The backgrounds are fun and easy to draw, and really realistic for a cartoon.
Reason four: it's overall just a great and interesting show and emits so many ideas for fanfiction and Fanart.

I would very much agree! Always loved how there was basically no filler, and if there was, it was interesting/ entertaining! And oh man... there was so much hype for ladybug... and when I went to watch it, it was just on an endless loop of getting nowhere! Got so bored, so fast, which is a shame cus there's so much they could do with the story!
Oh yeah! REALLY loved the background art in this show!

I LOVE IT!
It`s seriously think it`s one of Disney`s better modern shows. You should definitely watch it.
It`s all about these twins and a whole bunch of paranormal happenings.
The comedy is good, and the characters are the best! This is as basic as I can put it.
Grunkle Stan and Soos are my absolute fav! (Well...Soos and Mabel are kinda tied)

It's a great show, Des, I love it. eue It's about these twins (Dipper and Mabel) who go to stay with their Uncle (Grunkle Stan) in Gravity Falls, where Stan owns a shop called the mystery shack. The twins then have these little adventures with all the mysteries that happen in the small town, with monsters and gnomes and hidden tunnels and everything, and they're just trying to solve all the mysteries and what they mean, and Dipper is cute dorky and awkard, Soos is hilarious, Wendy is cool as all else, Mabel is random and adorable and so positive about everything, and it's just so freaking great, I love it eue

For my research, all I watched was Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained. XD If anything I want to know what that island monster is. XD So it's sort of like Scooby Doo with real mosnters and such? Haha if anything, I was defintiely able to grasp Mabel's character in a split second. lol

Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained is pretty funny, but they're short. XP I mean, I guess you could say that? Sorta? Dipper acts a lot like a tiny super self conscious insecure detective all the time, and he always seems to take himself way to seriously, whereas Mabel is almost always super confident and silly and doesn't really take anything seriously. She's just really goofy. eue
