Yeah, that and she wasn't as unhelpful. She definitely softened up in EWatLO, even if she was still wary about helping the party.

Yeah, she seemed way more stern in BKO, but even though BKO han an amazing american cast (most of the people have worked on anime) I prefered her voice actoress in BKEWLO.

THIS. I agree so much! There was something gentle and mysterious about her voice in the first game. The sternness and, perhaps, professional quality of the second one did nothing to make me like her.
...This is actually one of the reasons why I liked the first game better anyways--despite the bad voice acting and less-than-stellar script, the story and characters came alive through their actions and the beautiful world around them. But in Origins (and don't get me wrong, I love BKO!), even though they had that marvelous script and superb cast of voice actors, something felt a little lacking, a little empty... The story didn't move me the way it did in the first game.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The story didn't seem as developed as the first (I mean if it were, we would probably have discovered Wiseman's origins). But I think the major downfall of the game was actually the scenery. It was mostly in places related to the empire (like Tarazed or the Colliseum) or the Earth (both based on grays and browns). It lacked awesome places like Mira and though I liked Hassaleh, it wasn't very colourful. There was also less places to visit (especially in the case of Duhr). I'm guessing the fact that they involved the Earth was the reason there were less places to visit. It would have been interesting however, to visit Duhr in ancient times (because in the game's context, it could have happened).

Yeah. The story itself was interesting, but it didn't come across as very innovative. I appreciated the plot twists throughout (they almost seemed like homage to the first game's, lol), but some were a bit predictable and some were under-developed. Too bad, 'cause they had a lot of potential...
I agree! Most of the plot-relevant places were located in Alfard, and while Alfard is a nice continent on its own, it doesn't have the same mysterious beauty that I mentally equate with the game overall. Same goes with the Earth. Something felt like it was missing, even if I DID like looking at Rasalas and other places. Part of me wants to blame it on the music--I didn't think it was on the same level of the first game either, even if it was still Motoi Sakuraba who composed it. The music contributed a LOT to the mood of EWatLO. For some reason in Origins it just reminded me of Tales of Symphonia's soundtrack.

Yeah, some plot twists like Milly being a cyborg seemed out of place to me.
The Earth did seem to be lacking a bit. Abali Sandhollow was boring, Rasalas was cool (but not really visited), Naos was sort of depressing, Cujam seemed even less interesting than Sheratan, Atria was just a bunch of dirt and mountains, Matar reminded me of the Holo Holo Jungle and Zaurak keep was pretty epic (but again it was more of a dungeon and was quite mysterious). I think I mentioned all the Earth locations, but they had REALLY good potential with things to work with for the Earth. I really think the Ocean and whale should have been involved. It would have also been interesting to see how the other continents looked in ancient time and to know the Earth's geography (because the only place on the visited Earth that gets into the sky is Cujam and Atria).
I do agree, music had an affect on this as well. It was mostly "Empire themed" themes. There was a lot of repetition in the soundtrack. In the original game, you had a lot of variety, like some tracks featuring synthesizers and others being sort of calm (like Detourne or The Book's themes). Music is definitly important to set the mood. Plus you had some reoccuring themes, like Komo Mai's which just didn't sound as good this time around. My personal favourite tracks are Iconoclasm an Evidential Material.

YES. Maybe if they had set it up a little better? I would have loved that twist, but like most of the twists in the story, you didn't get to see how it actually affected the characters. We never got to see the troubles Milly had to face because she had machina parts (as in how she maintained them (did she oil them? was she secretly a great mechanic?), or what happened when she was injured in battle) and that sort of cheapened her condition, I felt. Plus there was literally no build-up to it, except the fact that we knew that Baelheit was her father and that he was all for pro-machination. There is kind of a huge leap between that and ZOMG MILLY IS A ROBOT.
I liked the music of Albali Sandhollow, and Rasalas was at least pretty and got a tie-in later on with Nekkar. And Zaurak was awesome, though it told us next to nothing about the Dark Brethren (so disappointing!). But the rest, I agree, didn't live up to their potential. I would have liked some kind of indication of which places turned into what islands, and it would have been awesome to have been able to actually visit the Ocean, like you said, or even cross it. I think it would have been cool, too, to meet the whale, since it was so important to the first game. (Speaking of which, did you think the appearance of the White Dragon felt a little out of place in Origins, too? It's like, shouldn't it be in Wazn or something? And why did the School of Magic think it was important enough to teach Milly about it when it's implied that it is loyal only to the Ice Queens, and Wazn has been closed to the outside world for hundreds of years?) And I have a feeling that the Earth itself was much, much wider than Sagi, Milly, and Guillo ever got to see.
Oh, definitely. As much as I love Alfard, I did get tired of having everything--the music, the new locations, most of the plot-relevant characters, and the plot itself--centered around it. As for music in general, my favorites were "Ancient Hometown" (I used to fall asleep to this... What I wouldn't give to visit Hassaleh) and "The Boundary Between the Wind and the Earth." Yeah, I like subdued things. In the first game's soundtrack I liked pretty much every song there was. @-@

I thnk the white Dragon's appearance was not totally out of place. I could believe that it was a sort of drifter before Wazn was made (because if Wazn did exist while the dragon was present, it would have only recently been created). I t did however seem to show up randomly, but I thought it was a nice nod to the older game, plus it was nice to see that there was bothe the White dragon and the Black Dragon.
Speaking of Zaurak, Milly mentioned it looked like Cor Hydrae, and I sort of see a resemblance but not entirely. I'm not entirely sure why a cave would turn into a floating castle destined for Malpercio. If only we knew more of the Dark Bretheren, I mean, it should hav been the Dark Bretheren owning thatcastle, not Malpercio. And if they really wanted to tie it in, they should have made the place where Rudra was fought, the throne room.

Hmm... Maybe I should rephrase that. I didn't think it was out of place in the game itself, but I thought it was ill-timed, and I thought it weird that Milly should know about it, when it didn't seem particularly...important to any aspect of the plot. Other than being a deus ex machina to get Sagi and the gang out of the way of the random appearance of a swarm of Hearteaters. In short, I thought it was a nice nod to the first game, but a contrived and slightly strained one.
Good point. My personal fanon goes something like this: Malpercio (the monster that is resurrected a thousand years in the future) is essentially motivated by a predisposition to destruction that stems from two sources--one being the vow of Marno and his siblings to stop Wiseman at all costs, and the other being the Dark Brethren's gift (or curse) of god-like power. After being slaughtered by the Children of the Earth, dismembered, and either sealed away or left to fester in the Earth, I believe that Marno's group lost their humanness, and became simply vessels of the Dark Brethren's leftover power. So, a thousand years later, that hunger for death and destruction was just the remaining drive to kill from the Dark Brethren.
(I've also heard the theory that the vestiges of the human components of Malpercio wanted to get revenge on the Children of the Earth for killing them before they could dispatch Wiseman (in the case that you decide not to go back and kill him in-game), but I'm not sure if I entirely accept it.)
What this means for Malpercio and Zaurak Keep, if you consider the two to be the same, is that the part of Malpercio that came from the Dark Brethren might want to return to the place from which it originated, perhaps as a base of operations of sort. At least, that's what I've always assumed, since as you pointed out, we know very little about the Dark Brethren's past or future. But I do think we were meant to draw a parallel between the reddish, organic-looking walls of Zaurak Keep and the similarly gruesome design of Cor Hydrae.
Er, tl;dr version: Assuming Zaurak Keep was the predecessor of Cor Hydrae, Malpercio might have wanted to return there because of its/their ties to the Dark Brethren.

Good point on everything, but now I'm intrigued, I had no idea that was what happened if you didn't kill Wiseman (I just assumed that the boss fight with Verus would end and the rest of the story would unfold. I mean based on their characters, I doubt the siblings would ever want to take revenge on anyone, but if that alternate ending exists somewhere, I'd like to see it. It could be on youtube, but I've only ever seen the ending where Verus-Wiseman was defeated.

Er... ***[...what this means for COR HYDRAE and Zaurak Keep, if you consider the two to be the same...] I should have caught that typo before I posted it.
...Actually, I am not positive that that's what happened because I have never NOT killed Wiseman either. (I usually only spare Valara, Heughes, and Nasca.) I just remember seeing theories like this out there. Next time I play Origins I'm going to have to try this!

You're welcome! ^_^ I think both ideas sound amazing and I would very much like to see them! Too few people draw Gibari, so I'd love to see the one of him, and the other has /three/ characters in it! Which is insanely challenging in my opinion and you shall deserve a medal for it! ^___^

Yeah, I'll definitly draw Gibari, though on second thought, until I can find proper references for Sagi and Milly backs (I'll have to do some youtubin'), I may hold off on that one, but I am eager to draw that throne room of his, I find it very fascinating for some reason.

I assume she's referred to as the "fairy guide" as a result of her ethereal beauty and her eternal youth. In Origins, though it takes 20 years prior to the first game, she looks exactly the same, proving that she must be, at least partially, non-human.
Nice attention to detail.

yeah when I played BKO i was like wow at least king ladekahn (i sort of forgot the spelling since it's been soo long) was a kid and here's Queen Corellia looking like it was just yesterday. I think it has to do with those waters that flow around her palace, and those tree seeds (that they slow down her biological clock).
