Yep, I actually did a bit of Sly Cooper fanart while I was away. lol

Juan Carmelo Cooper is my version of the offspring of Sly and Carmelita. In my version of the storyline, the cliffhanger ending of the fourth game never happens and Sly is able to get himself and Le Paradox off the blimp safely. He marries Carmelita but their relationship remains as turbulent as ever. Sly gives up thievery and takes up a career as a collector and seller of rare items, using his thieving abilities to ferret out good deals for his clients. He finds it lame work and frequently argues with his wife about it, resentful that he's had to give up what he loves doing while she carries on quite nicely as a police officer. Sorry, but I find it completely unrealistic that the pair of them would have a stable marriage after the events of the fourth game. And I've never appreciated the fact that Carmelita had to apologise to Sly in that game when Sly was the one who lied to her but ok lol

I guess you could say that the two of them had Juan for all the wrong reasons: they thought he would repair the rift developing between them. Naturally, it only made things worse. Juan showed no interest in his father's side of the family and resisted all of Sly's efforts to teach him about them. That's not to say he had taken after his mother, however. Juan took stock of his mother's teachings that the world beyond their apartment was lawless and rife with criminal scum. Having seen his father reduced to what he deemed a petty salesman, Juan felt that being a "master thief" was not the winning side he planned to pick. Through his mother's connections, he became a constable of Interpol and quickly rose through the ranks. This was where his father's genes came into play. Through trickery and deceit, Juan presented himself as a trustworthy, courageous Interpol officer. Except he had gained his reputations through shady dealings with various criminal syndicates. Syndicates that would pay well to have rivals put out of commission and thrown in jail.

Unfortunately for Juan, his corruption and dishonesty slowly began to backfire on him and he found himself the target of various assassination plots. One such attempt resulted in the death of his wife, Irina, leaving him to raise his young son, Jake, alone. His relationship with his son was as problematic as any other relationship in his life, particularly his father. Jake was rebellious and scornful of his father's plans to train him as his partner and eventual successor. One day, Juan discovered that Jake had been honing his thieving skills behind his back by using the Thievius Raccoonus, having unearthed the book from his desk drawer (because that's what you get when you buy a desk with the cheap locks). Doing the first "responsible" thing in his life, Juan decides to try and have his son carted off to military school. Jake gets wind of this and bails. Despite Juan's best efforts, he is never found. It's only when - five years later - a mysterious stripe-tailed "master thief" appears on Interpol's radar and Juan realises that his son has taken up the mantel of his ancestors. The two then become entwined in a cat and mouse game, their relationship as father and son doing more than enough to add some awkwardness to the situation. To Jake's utter glee, of course.

OK, backstory out of the way. Now for the design: I just wanted to keep things simple here. Juan is essentially his mother but with his father's colouring and tail. I guess you could say he could easily pass for a fox if it weren't for the tail, which is deliberately coloured in opposing stripes to his father. He's significantly muscular and taller than Sly is, due to his police training combined with honing his own Cooper skills, which he employs while on the job (hence him keeping the Thievius Raccoonus around).
