And down she goes, in a nice, slow, detailed submergence sequence that really finishes off this series beautifully, even though it’s not the last picture. That look of realization in the first panel, followed by resignation in the next, and then the quicksand closing over the top of her head, and drawing down the last of that long white hair, a few bubbles, and then all gone. I love the movement of the surface ripples and how soft and thick the sands continue to look as they swallow her up. And of course how lovely her long white hair looks spread and floating atop the surface, until it is gone. Things definitely don’t look too hopeful for Felicia at this point, but it’s not over just yet. .
