It is actually a pretty good remake.

Though nothing can touch the original.

It looks good, but it just seems wrong. They make the Charger a 4-door, then they dress up the Chally as a Daytona Charger....

looks cool and all, with the exception that all the additional body parts look like there just stuck on.

what do you mean? clipped on?

some of the body mods look like they used double stick tape, and that grill under the nose is just sloppy.

The grill doesn't match the design a real Daytona of course, but they did a good job making the models right. Piecing a car together hasn't really changed since the old day. Screws and clips have turned to screws, clips and glue. I think they did a good job but could of changed a few designs to make it more visually appealing.

How well does that front bumper cover hold up in a standard 5-10mph impact? Is that even street legal?

DetroitDemigod In reply to scarcrow28 [2011-05-08 05:36:14 +0000 UTC]

haha, your worried if the nose is legal when there are these [link] things out on the street? The nose is just for aerodynamics's and looks, look up 1970 Plymouth Superbird or 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona and you'll find that the nose has been out for ages. As for the legal system, rims like the one's in the picture link should be outlawed cause if you hit someone at 5-10 mph I guarantee you your driving over them and not bumper to bumper. So its pretty much the same concept of a monster truck.

Another dumb law is safety. Which is more hazardous: You in a car without a seat belt, or sitting in the back of a pickup truck? And the odd thing is that the first one is considered breaking the law.

Actually, I was merely thinking about how much it would likely cost to replace the one-off nose, which is nothing like the nose of the original Suberbird in it's construction. I was also wondering if it would crumble to pieces if so much as a rock was kicked at it from a car cruising at highway speed up ahead. It doesn't appear very rugged.

Just looking at it I would almost expect it to collapse upon itself like tupperware during an impact until the OEM bumper bracing is reached. Which I would hope to still be under there, or it would very likely NOT be street legal. Maybe there was some effort into making this thing strong & durable enough for the real world, and there is adequate bracing behind it. I don't really know. Nor do I know anything about the shop that created it. So I would question it's quality. Maybe it's just a show car only, and really is a hollow empty cone.

And if by any consumer installing this nose, does that render the car to "show room use only" meaning any cop can harass you if they damn well feel like it for driving with a non-street legal modification. Just as if you installed your own exhaust or fog lights you can easily buy at the local pep boys shop. You can never be to cautious, nor to assuming ya know. CYA> Cover Your Ass. Cause the cop is not going to be amused by complaining about your neighbor's 83' Olds wearing the same diameter tires as your other neighbor's 86 Off Road Bronco. He's giving you the ticket, not them.

They wouldn't build something that weak trust me. I saw this Daytona out on the road later the next day. Also the head lights are in the right place, right behind those two black eyes on the cone so its functional. The only bad thing is that their isn't any holes for airflow to cool down the radiator. Heading problems probably occur for this design.

Well taken the facts that once you give them the Challenger and all that mountain of cash, there better be. They supercharge the engine.
