I'm really not sure where I fall in all this. I mean, the idea of just not being anymore scares me stupid, but then I wouldn't want to have to keep going for all time. I think I'd just get tired after a while, you know?

Then again; if there isn't... WE WON'T REALLY KNOW.
It's just like KABOOM you're dead. You won't know you're dead necessarily, because you won't feel or think anthing. So how the heck does it end?
And by the time you find out, you can't tell anyone because YOU'RE DEAD.

Look im not afriad to say this and i dont care if people hate me or start goign against me or if noone agrees with me and i dont wanna be mean but ST, i hope you like being dissapointed becuase when you die its either heaven or hell now if u want heaven then i suggest u accept God and christ into your life and if you're too 'dissapointed' to do that, i suggest you live yourself a long long life!

Where I live most Christians (Protestants, for that matter) don't believe in hell since god is supposed to love and accept EVERYONE no matter what.
I guess one does not _chose_ to be disappointed, it happens. It would be very mean to be punished for something you don't do/think out of bad will.
I'd be very disappointed in a god who's punishing such things.

Thats true but you cant expect to spend your life hating god and doing bad things that you know is wrong and then go live in heaven. Atleast dont get pissed about it! I mean God forgives us for our sins and is very accepting and if you accept him into yourlife you are gaurenteed an afterlife in heaven.
I just dont like how people think that they can be spirits and ghosts and haunt people in the afterlife, our souls live forever. and our spirits are welcomed in heaven. We all have an afterlife weather we like it or not. Now you can live a good life and live and even better one afterwards in heaven or you can screw up commit suicide and expect everything to get better.

well, one of my best friends is a ghost, so...
on one hand, she still has a life after death.
on the other, it wasn't anything like heaven or anything like that. I still don't know what to think about it all.

There's that 4 again!
Also, I agree.
I'd rather keep wondering, even after I've died, just what it is that's watching over us. It's more fun that way.

I like where you were headed there. If it isn't God looking over us, it might be something and not us all just spawning from a big explosion.

ChimeraDragonfang In reply to AnOdeToMaybe [2009-10-08 19:40:31 +0000 UTC]
It's not a four. It's the astronomical/astrological symbol for Jupiter.
As for me, I'll concentrate on enjoying the life I know I've got and not on worrying about what might come after.
We do have reincarnation of a sort. Give it a few billion years and all that was once us may well burn in the heart of a new star, and perhaps that that star will be the Sun of a new world full of life.

To be honest, so would I... for right now.
I'd hate to be judged for what I've done in a single lifetime.
Like others have said, reincarnation does have it's appeal... but maybe with an afterlife (Permanent or resting point) when the soul is ready for a break.
Still, interesting secret. Don't see many like this one.

Early-Birdie [2009-10-08 01:36:45 +0000 UTC]
I totally agree with you ST. So many people say that an afterlife is the only thing that keeps them unafraid of death, but I'm the opposite... I think the prospect of an afterlife sounds awful. When I die, I want to stop existing. An afterlife would be unnatural and terrifying.
I don't hate my life at all, and in fact look forward to living it happily and successfully, but death doesn't scare me at all, and I have never understood why people are so desperate for an afterlife. Death is natural, and an afterlife seems so artificial and weird to me.

Not to ruin the surprise, but in my personal experience there was nothing. Don't remember a light at the end of the tunnel or a blasting inferno... just this electrical discharge as I came to it from being paddle zapped.
Still ya never know.
