I know this feeling. The crying shoulder often has no one to cry on.

what hurts really bad too is when you decide to stop doing this because you are just tired, but you keep being there for others, helping them because you feel that you're a selfish person by not doing it. It's like a vicious circle

YES. But if we say it out loud... we'll sound as "weak" as the people we protect.

I know exactly how you feel ST. I've realized this several times over, and have wished countless times someone would do what I do for them for me.

True. Especially since not all of them are flawless, and after they break from remaining unprotected for too long - those who grew accustomed to their protection find themselves exposed.

I know how you feel.
And still, sometimes I get protected by my boyfriend and I can't stand it. I feel so weak when he does so.
When you never learned how it is to be protected it's even harder. Trust me.

Very true, ST.
Some people are like walls: People will lean on them for decades, but without repair the wall will eventually crumble, and merely hope that the broken bricks can cushion the fall of the last one to lean on it.

This I understand. I used to get upset about the fact that no one is there to protect me. Then I came to the conclusion that it is my job to take care of people. I am a protector. Also and I donβt know your religious stand point but it always helps me to remember that the spirits are always there to look out for me. ~ <3 I hope this helped and I wish you the best of luck. \~ <3

Those of us who are strong are so because we can handle ourselves at our weakest, even when we don't want to. We sacrifice our needs for security in order to share the burdens of those who cannot do it alone. Our gift of strength is our curse. Finding someone strong enough to share the burdens we hide inside is rare. But you're not alone.

It's the sacrifice we make and the burden we bear. We don't have to bear it gladly, but we must withstand.
Fortunatly it is that which we protect that preserves us. A life well spent.
Well said, I like it.

Exactly, I've been waiting for someone to smack me and tell me to be weak and let THEM hold ME for once, but I guess because I don't, does that make me strong? Or infeeling and weak?

I could have written this
because sometimes the strength these people exhibit makes them seem like they can naturally hold themselves up alone, but in reality they are the people that need the protection most because they're the ones working three times as hard as everyone else by not only staying strong, but protecting others.
They may be amazing, but they're human even if they seem to have super human strength, and due to this humanity they need a chance to be like the rest of humanity.

One cannot expect humans to understand human reality.
Just as we cannot expect to retrieve/receive from them what we need.
