Please take note that this is an introductory journal to the newly completed and fully operational ARK Project. Please leave any questions you have in the comments. We are not currently hosting any special promotions, however the ARKwork galleries are open.

Acts of Random KindnessAlso known as "ARKs" or the "ARK Project."

Previously, we have introduced ARKs through this blog . Since their introduction, the ARK Project has grown by leaps and bounds. To date, we have several sub-types of ARKworks, have reviewed and updated the standards for ARKwork submissions, and we have a team of admins who now run the project flawlessly.

Meet Your Team! The ARK Project is headed by the ARK Manager and Curator, MamaLantiis . On her team are Riemea , Icesis and amour-raven who assist in running the project which includes training new admins, discovering ARKs throughout the deviantART community, and additional administrative duties unique to their admin status in the group (such as voting on ARKwork submissions and interviewing prospective new deviants interested in promoting ARKs or hosting ARK-related events).

Participating in the ARK ProjectYou do NOT have to be an admin or fabulous artist to participate in the ARK Project. You simply must be a member of deviantART who wants to make other deviants smile. So, how do you bring a smile to another deviant's face?

ARKworks
ARKworks promote positivity and comradeship in the community through visual art (to include literature). ARKworks are deviations that you create FOR or ABOUT another person or cause (on or off deviantART). Did someone request a commission they couldn't pay for so you gave them a deal? That is an ARKwork! Did you create a birthday art for a friend? That is an ARKwork! Did you see a new artist whose work you loved and created a journal feature about? That is an ARKwork! Many different kinds of art can be ARKworks. You may have some in your gallery right now and not even be aware of it!

ARKworks have their own gallery folder at deviantHEART . To be accepted, we must be able to see WHY it is an ARKwork, and it must be positive.

remARKs
remARKs are a special type of ARKwork and are just what they sound like... features and comments! Mostly done as positive journal features or comments, remARKs literally "remark" on a special person, cause or group of people in the deviantART community (or even outside the community!). Did you know that the Featured Heartist on our main group page is a remARK? It is! Have you created a journal feature about a great artist you love? That is a remARK! Did you leave a nice comment on someone's profile or deviation? That is a remARK! (and yes, the remARK gallery is the ONLY gallery where we will accept screenshots)

remARKs have their own gallery folder for works you can submit like journals, screenshots of comments/features, and other submittable features. Like general ARKworks, they must be positive, and we must be able to see WHY it is an ARKwork.

Quilt Squares & The Kindness Quilt
These are another type of special ARKwork and serve a very special purpose. A quilt square is an actual square deviation of a specific dimension. You can create squares for you to use or as stock for others to use (but they must be a square like the template). A kindness quilt is a deviation made up of quilt squares. You can make your own squares or use squares that other deviants have made. Kindness quilts generally tell a story.

Both Quilt Squares and Kindness Quilts have their own galleries here at deviantHEART . They must follow the templates provided and be positive. In addition, Kindness Quilts must attempt to tell some kind of story or have some kind of pattern/reasoning to them. The quilt square gallery is here and the kindness quilt gallery is here .

The Most Important PointsSorry this introductory journal is so loooong! However, it is full of important information for anyone who wants to know about or participate in the ARK Project. So, to recap in case your vision blurred while reading all of that...

ARKworks are art created for other people or causes and are positive!
remARKs, quilt squares and kindness quilts are special ARKworks.
All the ARKwork galleries are open for submissions!
We now have an ARK Team that trains admins and volunteers!
Send the group a note if you want to volunteer!
You don't have to be a group member or mentor to participate.
If you are confused, you can request to be mentored by an ARK Admin.
We will take any questions about ARKs in the comments!

The name is kinda ironic. Sorry, I had to. XD

This sounds like a lot of fun, I'll see of I can spread the word.
