Twilight Sparkle, having just finished ticking off her morning routine on her to do list, floated a book off a shelf and placed it on the table. "Alright, time to start on the 'D' section of Anthropomorphised Creatures of Fantasy." She smiled to herself as she magically turned the pages of the large book. "and of course, take notes."

"Got everything you need right here Twilight" Spike said happily as he walked over with several scrolls, some quills and a couple of ink pots which he placed next to Twilight.

"Thank you Spike, have a good day helping Rarity" Twilight magically arranged her writing equipment as Spike chuckled.

"I will"
He turned and walked to the door. Just before he opened it, it burst open, smacking him in the face and knocking him into the wall. As the stars cleared from his vision he noticed a pink bouncing blur moving around the room. Just watching it was making him dizzy.

"Twilight! Spike! Spike! Twilight!" Pinkie bounced happily around the room as Twilight seemed to take little notice of her and Spike just tried his best not to fall over. "Today's the day, today's the day, he's arriving today!"

"Who's arriving?" Twilight asked as she scribbled a detailed note.

"Who's arriving?" Pinkie asked stopping in mid-bounce, and floated slowly down onto the floor "You mean you don't know? You mean I didn't tell you? Cause this is definitely something I would tell everypony about."

"Pinkie" Twilight interupted, trying to keep her hyperactive friend focused.

"Oh, right" Pinkie smiled "my cousin is arriving in Ponyville today, my most favouritist wonderfulist specialist awesomist cousinist cousin is coming to visit me. Today!"

It took a second for what Pinkie said to sink in but when it did Twilight stopped writing and looked at the frizzy haired pony. "Your cousin? You have a cousin?"

"Of course I do silly" Pinkie landed in front of Twilight "I also have a mother, a father, an older sister, a younger sister and a pet rock but he was naughty so we had to put him back outside in the rock fields. Ooh and there was Granny Pie and-"

"Okay. What's your cousin like?" Twilight interrupted before Pinkie carried on too long. Twilight rubbed her head with a hoof as she tried to absorb the little relevant data Pinkie just spoken.

"He's the most wonderful special awesome cousin ever. He's just like me. But opposite" Pinkie smiled as she bounced around the room again.

"... What?"

"Oh, it's nearly time for his train to arrive!" Grabbing Twilight Pinkie ran out of the library in a blur of purple and pink knocking Spike on the way out making him spin rapidly. When he managed to stop he staggered slightly, left, then right, then collapsed.

As Pinkie and Twilight waited at the train station Pinkie bounced quickly on the spot muttering to herself "He's coming. He's coming. He's coming."

As the train pulled into the station and came to a full stop she screamed "He's Here!"

She ran up to a carriage and pressed her face against the window. Two ponies in the compartment stared at her in confusion as Pinkies eyes roamed in all directions, searching the carriage.

Behind her a solemn voice spoke.
"Hello Pinkamena."

Looking behind her Pinkie saw a grey pegasus with large grey wings, grey eyes, a black mane and a look on his face that said he didn't smile much.

"SAM!!!" Pinkie screamed, ripping herself off the side of the train she leapt over and gave the grey pony a large and long hug. He just stood there with an unphased look until she let go of him. She looked up at him expectantly, he patted her on the head twice with his hoof. She smiled and squeaked with joy. "Sam, this is my friend Twilight Sparkle, Twilight this my cousin Serious Sam" Pinkie pulled over Twilight as she introduced them.

"I'm Sam Cirrus" Sam nodded at Twilight as a way of greeting "Pinkamena seems to like to call me that."

"You're... Pinkie's cousin?" Twilight asked unable to believe two completely different ponies were related, in any way "as in, you're family?"

"Why does everyone act so surprised when we tell them we're related?" Pinkie asked with confused look on her face.

Sam kept his non-surprised face as he answered."They're surprised that two opposites are family, let alone know each other."

"Oh." Pinkie nodded, then smiled. "Of course. You always know the answer Sam. That's one of the reasons your my wonderfulist cousin, 'cause you like to help ponies" Pinkie ranted, hugging Sam again and pointing to his cutie mark, which looked white silhouette of a bird. If Twilight had to guess she would say a dove. "That's what his cutie mark means. He likes to help ponies with their problems and everypony has problems so that's why he's always so busy. And he's always travelling all over the place seeing lots and lots of new places and ponies and always making new friends and has lots of awesome adventures 'cause he's helping lots and lots of other ponies and everypony loves him for it and everypony -"

Sam raised a hoof to his lips and made a shushing sound. Pinkie's talking slowed, her volume getting quieter and quieter until she stopped talking all together. She stood there, still and totally silent.

Twilight stood amazed, her mouth hung open as Sam and Pinkie stood there, quietly "How did you do that?" Twilight asked.

As Sam walked past her, Pinkie happily started bouncing along as she followed on behind.
"When you live with Pinkamena and her family for a year you must learn many things." Sam answered as Twilight caught up.

"You lived with Pinkie and her family on the rock farm?" Twilight asked. She bumped into Sam as he suddenly stopped and turned to Pinkie.

"You told you're friends you lived on a rock farm?" He asked, Pinkie stopped bouncing and looked down to the ground, her smile faded as she nodded her head. Saying nothing Sam pointed to a nearby corner that was formed by the wall of the station building and a parked cart.

"Awwwwww" Pinkie groaned as she slinked over to the corner. She sat down and glared at it. The owner of the cart looking confused and Twilight looked as if she was about to faint.

"So how long are you going to be in Ponyville Sam?" Twilight asked as she, Sam and Pinkie walked through the small town, Pinkie bouncing along and smiling more then usual.

"A couple of days at most, there are a few things I need to do before moving on to Manehatten" Sam answered as he glanced around the small town.

"Oh? What are the things you need to do?" Twilight asked as Pinkie started to do small spins and flips in the air, her excitement evidently growing.

"I don't know yet." Sam simply answered, stopping in his tracks. He looked around a little more. "Is there a hotel or Inn? I will be needing a place to sleep."

"Oh, of course, there's a small Inn down that street." Twilight pointed it out to Sam.

Pinkie suddenly gasped in surprise as she realised something. Her eyes widened and her whole body trembled. "Twilight, you gotta bring Sam to Sugar Cube Corner, like, as soon as you can." Pinkie grabbed Twilight and shook her.

"Why?" Twilight asked as her eyes spun, becoming dizzy from Pinkie's shaking. Without explaining Pinkie dashed away, racing down the street and dodging between ponies.

"Shall we head to the cake shop?" Sam asked as Twilight sat down and tried to get her bearings.

"You mean, right now?" Twilight rubbed her head as the world slowly became still again.

"Pinkamena did say as soon as you can" Sam pointed out.

"But don't you need to get a room at the Inn?" Twilight watched as Sam looked between the two streets. he seemed to have trouble deciding which to go down.

After half a minute he sighed and nodded. "It is best I get a room first." and started to walk down the street. Twilight followed, her legs still a little wobbly after her dizzy spell.

After paying for his room and placing his bags in it, Sam followed Twilight to the cake shop.

When they opened the door they got covered in and explosion of confetti. Music and cheers struck up along with the sound of many noise makers.

In the span of less than five minutes Pinkie had managed to gather up all her closest friends and got the cake shop party ready.

Rainbow Dash was still sleeping on a cloud that was floating near the ceiling.

"SAM" Pinkie squealed as she hugged him again "You came!"

"Of course, you told us to come as soon as we could" Sam walked up to the small crowd of ponies into the shop, dragging Pinkie across the floor with him as she continued to hug and refused to let go.

"It's nice to meet you Sam" Mrs Cake said as she offered him a drink which he accepted "I'm Cup Cake and this is my husband Carrot Cake." She pointed a hoof at the tall and slim yellow stallion at her side.

"A pleasure to meet you." Sam nodded to the two ponies "Mr and Mrs Cake, on behalf of our family I thank you for looking after Pinkamena, for taking her in, giving a home and a job."

"Oh it was our pleasure." Mr Cake smiled "As soon as Pinkie bounced into town we could tell she would be a good baker."

"Aw" Pinkie blushed and smiled as she continued to hug Sam. "Thank you."

"Its the truth sugarcube" Applejack walked up to the small group with a plate on her back, containing various apple snacks and treats "And Pinkie is always willing to help and put a smile on ponies faces"

Looking at her Sam spoke to himself. "Orange coat, Stetson, three apples for a cutie mark. You must be Applejack.'

"Right in one Sammie" Applejack laughed.

"Ooh Sammie, why didn't I ever think of calling you that?" Pinkie asked as she finally let go of Sam and took a treat off the plate on Applejack's back.

"You did, but I asked you not to" Sam took a snack and ate it "Delicious, as expected of a pony who comes from the family who helped found Ponyville."

"How'd you know that?" Applejack asked, surprised.

Pinkie giggled. "I told him, and the rest of my family in the letters I send them silly"

"Indeed, Pinkamena goes into great detail about friends and adventures." Sam looked around the room as Rarity joined them along with Spikey-Wikey. The dragon was staying close to the white mare, with a goofy grin on his face. "You must be Rarity" Sam said with a bow of the head.

"Charmed darling. Its a pleasure to meet a member of Pinkie's family" Rarity smiled and flicked her mane.

Sam looked down at Spike then back to Rarity
"You appear to have a baby dragon following you"

"That's Spike, Twilight's assistant though he likes to help others as well. Though he likes to really help Rarity in her shop" Pinkie said as she pushed the Party Cannon into the middle of the room.

"You never mentioned he was a dragon" Sam blinked at Pinkie. For him it was the closest thing to a surprised expression.

Pinkie giggled. "Silly Sam, how else was Spike supposed to send letters to the princess?" She looked thoughtful, rubbing a hoof against her chin. "I suppose you could've thought he was a pegasus. If he had been a pegasus he could have flown the letters but that would be a long way for a pony to fly every other day, not even Dashie could do that and she's really really really really fast and can do Sonic Rainboom's and-"

Sam raised his hoof to his mouth and made a shushing sound until Pinkie stopped talking. Everypony was so surprised even the music stopped.

"How in the hay did he do that?" Applejack asked Twilight, unable to keep the surprise out of her voice.

Twilight stared, wide eyes and jaw dropped. She desperately cried out. "I Don't Know!"

Rainbow Dash jolted awake. Still sleepy she half opened her eyes as she stretched. Rubbing the sleep out of her eyes she expected to see blue sky, instead she found herself looking at the wooden ceiling of Cupcake Corner. Looking over the edge of the cloud she saw everypony below her. "What's going on?" She saw the smiling Pinkie and something clicked in her mind. "Pinkie how'd you get me here? She shouted.

"Hi Dashie, how do you like the party?" Pinkie asked as she bounced up and down, using springs to get to Dash's level.

"Never mind that, how'd you get me, and my cloud, here?" Dash asked as she followed pinkie with her eyes.

Dashie just giggled as she kept bouncing around Dash's cloud."Oh I asked Fluttershy to find you and bring you here. She turned up holding the cloud with you on it." Pinkie explained, now balancing a plate on her head "cake?"

"Fluttershy, why didn't you wake me up?" R.D asked as she grabbed a piece of cake.

A blush rose on Fluttershy's cheeks. "Oh, um... Well, you looked so peaceful sleeping. I didn't want to disturb you in case you got grumpy. I hope that's ok." Fluttershy said meekly. She shrank a little.

Suddenly Spike burped loudly. A jet of green flame shot out of his mouth and a roll of parchment appeared in his claw.

Startled, though his face didn't change, Sam draw back a step and his wings shot open. Everyone saw how large they were, larger than the normal wingspan for a pegasus by half. Fluttershy stared at them and blushed brightly "Oh my" She said quietly. Up on her cloud Rainbow Dash's own wings sprung open.

"Heh, excuse me." Spike chuckled, blushing slightly as he handed the scroll to Twilight, who took it with her magic and opened it. As she read it her smile faltered and her eyes grew wider.

"Everypony listen!" She shouted desperately "Princess Celestia says she and Princess Luna will be coming to the town in a few days at the next full moon, and wishes for a party to get to know the ponies of Ponyville and repay them for the kindness we showed to Luna on Nightmare Night."

Everypony stared at Twilight with surprise on their faces, except for Sam who's wings were now back to normal. Pinkie suddenly screamed loudly and started bouncing around the room without the aid of the springs. She jumped off the floor, ceiling off the walls, all the way screaming "Double Princess Party! Double Princess Party! Double Princess Party! At Night!"

Ponies dodged, ducked and took cover as Pinkie got louder and faster

"Pinkie calm down" Twilight shouted as she, Spike and Rarity took cover under a table. Pinkie either couldn't hear her or was too focused on the upcoming party to notice. The only pony still standing was Sam, who's face still hadn't changed. He raised his hoof to his mouth and made the shushing sound, only this time it had no effect. Lowering his hoof Sam took a breath and said loudly and sternely "Pinkamena!"

Instantly Pinkie was silent and landed in front of Sam, her mouth curled in and cheeks puffed out like Applejack trying to lie. Without saying another word Sam pointed to a corner and Pinkie let out a loud groan as she moved off into it. Everyponies eyes following her with their mouths on the floor.

"Now how in the HAY did he do THAT?" Applejack asked Fluttershy who shrank back a bit "No one's able to calm Pinkie down when she starts acting crazier than a pig in a mud hole on a hot day."

As Pinkie stood facing the corner she glared at it. "So we meet again Corner" Then she whispered. "I don't like you."

Crawling out from under the tables everypony looked from Pinkie to Sam

"Yes, well. I must say that's a very special... Skill you have." Rarity spoke, leaning in close to Same "Can you... teach it to us?"

"I'm sorry Rarity, but to gain this skill you must live with Pinkamena for a year. Do you think you can do that?" Sam asked, Rarity took a step back. She didn't want to insult her friend and she did enjoy being around her. But to live with her, in the same home, day in and day out, to be the focus of her attention nearly, if not all, day and night long was probably beyond her endurance.

"Well... that is to say..." Rarity laughed softly "probably not, no"

"You lived with Pinkie for a year?" Fluttershy asked, floating just above Rarity "What was that like?"

"I lived with Pinkamena and her family for a year, yes." Sam nodded. "As you can tell I needed a way to... focus her, at times." Sam told the small group of ponies. Rainbow Dash was still on her cloud but had lowered it so as to be a part of the group. She was currently enjoying a milkshake.

Twilight shook her head and stomped her hoof to get everyponies attention."Are we really talking about Sam's and Pinkie's past when BOTH the PRINCESSES are coming to Ponyville in a few days?" Twilight shouted, interupting them and making them jump slightly, except for Sam who wasn't easily surprised or startled by much after living with Pinkie. Twilight grinned sheepishly. "Oh, er, no offence Sam."

"None taken Twilight." He said with a nod. "Pinkamena?" Before Sam could turn Pinkie was already out of the corner and by his side. "You are going to be helping with the food and celebrations yes?"

"Of course I am" Pinkie giggled, bouncing around everypony. "I'm gonna help with the food and the balloons and the ribbons. Oooh but Rarity is better with the ribbons because she's SO good with fashion and Applejack can help make apple foods and drinks and desserts that are so yummy scrummy delicious!" Landing next to Twilight Pinkie drew her close "and Twilight is gonna help organise it cause she's a super smart smartypants and likes organising things and is Princess Celestia's student. So I bet she knows everything she likes." Clamping a hoof over Pinkie's mouth Twilight only succeeded in muffling her endless talking.

"I wouldn't say I know everything the princess likes." Twilight laughed nervously "But I hope you'll stay long enough to meet the princesses Sam."

"Of course," Sam with with a agreeing nod. "I wouldn't miss an opportunity to meet both the princesses of Equestria.
"Now I hope you do not mind but I must leave and pay for my room for several more days, Pinkamena your party was fun, as always" Pinkie smiled and squeaked through Twilights hoof. Sam nodded to each pony in turn "It was a pleasure meeting you all. Ms. Fluttershy I hope to see you again soon."

Taking Fluttershy's hoof he kissed it. She squeaked and blushed, unable to stop her wings from opening. Turning Sam opened his wings wide and flew through the door and out of site. Inside Fluttershy blushed and trembled slightly as her hoof hovered in the air.

"Looks like you've got an admirer." Rainbow Dash chuckled as she finally jumped off her cloud and landed next to Fluttershy who just blushed harder and stammered.

"Oh... Um, no... Well, I don't... Oh my"

"Oh it was our pleasure." Mr Cake smiled "As soon as Pinkie bounced into town we could tell she would be a good baker."

"Aw" Pinkie blushed and smiled as she continued to hug Sam. "Thank you."

"Its the truth sugarcube" Applejack walked up to the small group with a plate on her back, containing various apple snacks and treats "And Pinkie is always willing to help and put a smile on ponies faces"

Looking at her Sam spoke to himself. "Orange coat, Stetson, three apples for a cutie mark. You must be Applejack.'

"Right in one Sammie" Applejack laughed.

"Ooh Sammie, why didn't I ever think of calling you that?" Pinkie asked as she finally let go of Sam and took a treat off the plate on Applejack's back.

"You did, but I asked you not to" Sam took a snack and ate it "Delicious, as expected of a pony who comes from the family who helped found Ponyville."

"How'd you know that?" Applejack asked, surprised.

Pinkie giggled. "I told him, and the rest of my family in the letters I send them silly"

"Indeed, Pinkamena goes into great detail about friends and adventures." Sam looked around the room as Rarity joined them along with Spikey-Wikey. The dragon was staying close to the white mare, with a goofy grin on his face. "You must be Rarity" Sam said with a bow of the head.

"Charmed darling. Its a pleasure to meet a member of Pinkie's family" Rarity smiled and flicked her mane.

Sam looked down at Spike then back to Rarity
"You appear to have a baby dragon following you"

"That's Spike, Twilight's assistant though he likes to help others as well. Though he likes to really help Rarity in her shop" Pinkie said as she pushed the Party Cannon into the middle of the room.

"You never mentioned he was a dragon" Sam blinked at Pinkie. For him it was the closest thing to a surprised expression.

Pinkie giggled. "Silly Sam, how else was Spike supposed to send letters to the princess?" She looked thoughtful, rubbing a hoof against her chin. "I suppose you could've thought he was a pegasus. If he had been a pegasus he could have flown the letters but that would be a long way for a pony to fly every other day, not even Dashie could do that and she's really really really really fast and can do Sonic Rainboom's and-"

Sam raised his hoof to his mouth and made a shushing sound until Pinkie stopped talking. Everypony was so surprised even the music stopped.

"How in the hay did he do that?" Applejack asked Twilight, unable to keep the surprise out of her voice.

Twilight stared, wide eyes and jaw dropped. She desperately cried out. "I Don't Know!"

Rainbow Dash jolted awake. Still sleepy she half opened her eyes as she stretched. Rubbing the sleep out of her eyes she expected to see blue sky, instead she found herself looking at the wooden ceiling of Cupcake Corner. Looking over the edge of the cloud she saw everypony below her. "What's going on?" She saw the smiling Pinkie and something clicked in her mind. "Pinkie how'd you get me here? She shouted.

"Hi Dashie, how do you like the party?" Pinkie asked as she bounced up and down, using springs to get to Dash's level.

"Never mind that, how'd you get me, and my cloud, here?" Dash asked as she followed pinkie with her eyes.

Dashie just giggled as she kept bouncing around Dash's cloud."Oh I asked Fluttershy to find you and bring you here. She turned up holding the cloud with you on it." Pinkie explained, now balancing a plate on her head "cake?"

"Fluttershy, why didn't you wake me up?" R.D asked as she grabbed a piece of cake.

A blush rose on Fluttershy's cheeks. "Oh, um... Well, you looked so peaceful sleeping. I didn't want to disturb you in case you got grumpy. I hope that's ok." Fluttershy said meekly. She shrank a little.

Suddenly Spike burped loudly. A jet of green flame shot out of his mouth and a roll of parchment appeared in his claw.

Startled, though his face didn't change, Sam draw back a step and his wings shot open. Everyone saw how large they were, larger than the normal wingspan for a pegasus by half. Fluttershy stared at them and blushed brightly "Oh my" She said quietly. Up on her cloud Rainbow Dash's own wings sprung open.

"Heh, excuse me." Spike chuckled, blushing slightly as he handed the scroll to Twilight, who took it with her magic and opened it. As she read it her smile faltered and her eyes grew wider.

"Everypony listen!" She shouted desperately "Princess Celestia says she and Princess Luna will be coming to the town in a few days at the next full moon, and wishes for a party to get to know the ponies of Ponyville and repay them for the kindness we showed to Luna on Nightmare Night."

Everypony stared at Twilight with surprise on their faces, except for Sam who's wings were now back to normal. Pinkie suddenly screamed loudly and started bouncing around the room without the aid of the springs. She jumped off the floor, ceiling off the walls, all the way screaming "Double Princess Party! Double Princess Party! Double Princess Party! At Night!"

Ponies dodged, ducked and took cover as Pinkie got louder and faster

"Pinkie calm down" Twilight shouted as she, Spike and Rarity took cover under a table. Pinkie either couldn't hear her or was too focused on the upcoming party to notice. The only pony still standing was Sam, who's face still hadn't changed. He raised his hoof to his mouth and made the shushing sound, only this time it had no effect. Lowering his hoof Sam took a breath and said loudly and sternely "Pinkamena!"

Instantly Pinkie was silent and landed in front of Sam, her mouth curled in and cheeks puffed out like Applejack trying to lie. Without saying another word Sam pointed to a corner and Pinkie let out a loud groan as she moved off into it. Everyponies eyes following her with their mouths on the floor.

"Now how in the HAY did he do THAT?" Applejack asked Fluttershy who shrank back a bit "No one's able to calm Pinkie down when she starts acting crazier than a pig in a mud hole on a hot day."

As Pinkie stood facing the corner she glared at it. "So we meet again Corner" Then she whispered. "I don't like you."

Crawling out from under the tables everypony looked from Pinkie to Sam

"Yes, well. I must say that's a very special... Skill you have." Rarity spoke, leaning in close to Same "Can you... teach it to us?"

"I'm sorry Rarity, but to gain this skill you must live with Pinkamena for a year. Do you think you can do that?" Sam asked, Rarity took a step back. She didn't want to insult her friend and she did enjoy being around her. But to live with her, in the same home, day in and day out, to be the focus of her attention nearly, if not all, day and night long was probably beyond her endurance.

"Well... that is to say..." Rarity laughed softly "probably not, no"

"You lived with Pinkie for a year?" Fluttershy asked, floating just above Rarity "What was that like?"

"I lived with Pinkamena and her family for a year, yes." Sam nodded. "As you can tell I needed a way to... focus her, at times." Sam told the small group of ponies. Rainbow Dash was still on her cloud but had lowered it so as to be a part of the group. She was currently enjoying a milkshake.

Twilight shook her head and stomped her hoof to get everyponies attention."Are we really talking about Sam's and Pinkie's past when BOTH the PRINCESSES are coming to Ponyville in a few days?" Twilight shouted, interupting them and making them jump slightly, except for Sam who wasn't easily surprised or startled by much after living with Pinkie. Twilight grinned sheepishly. "Oh, er, no offence Sam."

"None taken Twilight." He said with a nod. "Pinkamena?" Before Sam could turn Pinkie was already out of the corner and by his side. "You are going to be helping with the food and celebrations yes?"

"Of course I am" Pinkie giggled, bouncing around everypony. "I'm gonna help with the food and the balloons and the ribbons. Oooh but Rarity is better with the ribbons because she's SO good with fashion and Applejack can help make apple foods and drinks and desserts that are so yummy scrummy delicious!" Landing next to Twilight Pinkie drew her close "and Twilight is gonna help organise it cause she's a super smart smartypants and likes organising things and is Princess Celestia's student. So I bet she knows everything she likes." Clamping a hoof over Pinkie's mouth Twilight only succeeded in muffling her endless talking.

"I wouldn't say I know everything the princess likes." Twilight laughed nervously "But I hope you'll stay long enough to meet the princesses Sam."

"Of course," Sam with with a agreeing nod. "I wouldn't miss an opportunity to meet both the princesses of Equestria.
"Now I hope you do not mind but I must leave and pay for my room for several more days, Pinkamena your party was fun, as always" Pinkie smiled and squeaked through Twilights hoof. Sam nodded to each pony in turn "It was a pleasure meeting you all. Ms. Fluttershy I hope to see you again soon."

Taking Fluttershy's hoof he kissed it. She squeaked and blushed, unable to stop her wings from opening. Turning Sam opened his wings wide and flew through the door and out of site. Inside Fluttershy blushed and trembled slightly as her hoof hovered in the air.

"Looks like you've got an admirer." Rainbow Dash chuckled as she finally jumped off her cloud and landed next to Fluttershy who just blushed harder and stammered.

"Oh... Um, no... Well, I don't... Oh my"
