SHIT... this picture just sucked me right in... the llokin those eyes is so primal and intense... she looks like she's ready for attack...
i love the colors here... i like how the crisp and clean greens contrast with the dirtiness and the grittiness of the mud/dirt...
my only criticism>> i don't like that yellowish/green leaf(?) on the bottom of the image... it's kind of distracting.

Tyler, who is sitting next to me, says you look like someone from Survivor. I don't watch TV much, so I wouldn't know. If I had to relate this to anything I've seen, I'd have to say it reminds me of Arnold Schwarzenegger in Predator; sorry if that sounds like a bad thing. I thought it was an interesting movie. That and it reminds me of a promotional shot of the band Motograter.

I did not catch this one earlier when it earned DD. Congrats. I like the intense stare on the subject's face. I feel that this "warrior"/ earth goddess stands alert and ready to protect the rich and fertile nature of his/her domain.

Like the little Walt Whitman reference.... It reminded me of this...."Mack MAAAAAAAAACK!, Get to the chopper!!!" and "If it bleeds...we can kill it!"....you know what i'm talking about?....no she says!....the movie Predator with Mr.Arnie....you know it??....When he has to cover himself in mud to stop the Predator alien from seeing him through his heat sensitive detectors....the mud lowers his body temp that's the idea....
Anyway....nice pic and nice reference....

This is so lovely... As has been said before, the colors are incredibly vibrant and lush, and the stare is very intense and focused. This piece really is very startling when you first look at it... I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it.
Hmm... If I had to guess, I'd say that's potting soil, ne? Damn that stuff smells good. ^^

I like the suburbian lawn in the background. The girl is completely primal and animalistic, and there is a strong contrast between the textured, chaoticly spread mud and the clean cut lawn. This is just my interpretation, but I feel that the contrast between the girl and the background is important... The girl covered in mud represents man's true nature unsurpressed, and the lawn is representative of society, and although the girl is on/in the lawn/society, her true nature still shows itself even though she attempts to hide it with the leaves.... It just seems to be to be a reminder that no matter how "civilized" we think we are, we cannot always disguise who we really are.
