Description
this is the inside of a little clear plexiglass box game you hold in your hand and try to make the silver balls land in the holes. you'll see that because its man made and not computer generated - its imperfect. the circles cutouts are not perfectly clean - they have edges that keep them imperfect. the view of the top one appears as an oval from this view as well. you can see the reflections in the two metal balls as well as their reflections in the surfaces around them.i love this for its simplicity, its color, its shapes and direction - i have a lot of little games like this but this image was my favorite.

Its quite an amazing thing, I would have never though of something like it. THough I have to say that this color is way too bright for my taste and prevents me from examining the image more closely

ha ha... maybe the holes you made imperfect on purpose??! Those little balls never did want to stay in the holes for me ha ha! Very well done though! I have never really dealt with macro before! So I don't even know what to look for... except that the photo is very captivating. Awesome job!
Oh ya... what lens do you use for this? Do you use a specialized macro lens or can you get the same results with another?

i used the super macro option on my Pentax that lets you get up to 2 cm close and stay in focus

it was fun but not really easy - super macros are tough to focus properly. i have a few more from a few more games - i might submit one more if i can get it to come out decently

Simply odd - this picture feels warped in a way... this is due to the mishappen holes, and the bend of teh box on the left, mainly... the two balls look like alien eyes looking out at the viewer with a sort of "what!" expression.
I like how you can't really tell where the lighting is coming from, and how the top ball just seems to be floating there... the wierd surreal aspects to the piece are what gives it it's abstract title and the allure you get from viewing it.
