Description Hey guys , sorry for being so slow. I have a fuckload of Fanarts to post but I don't know how to explain them.

Oh well onto these movies about the great Sigourney Weaver and some acid-blooded creatures that don't seem to eat anything through all 4 movies but kill you and drool (most xenophobic creatures ever)
Anyway let's get going with my opinion on the quadrilogy : I loved all 4 of them.

ALIEN (1979)

The legend , the myth, the holy grail ... Let's be honest , this is a stapple in horror/sci-fi
The story is well known: the crew of an interstellar craft responds to what seems a distress signal, only to encounter a remarkably lethal xenomorph that boards their ship and sets about picking them off one by one.(You know maybe if you shot the motherfucker right when it bursted out of Kane it could have increased your chances...) . The film has a fairly slow pace, and the story itself is predictable;BUT the tension is well-built and the Alien is just seen the moment it absolutely counts (less is more baby !), and the actors are so realistic you actually feel bad for them (especially the rape scene ) ...
Though you gotta admit , being defeated because you were taking a nap, that's gotta be embarassing.

ALIENS

James Cameron logically extends the concepts in the first film, and while it lacks the atmosphere and creepy suspense of the first movie, it is an extremely exciting and emotionally satisfying film. Ellen Ripley returns to the beast's planet with a squad of cliches..errr... marines, which includes such personalities as the humane Cpl. Hicks (Michael Biehn), the freaked-out Pvt. Hudson (Bill Paxton) and the macho Pvt. Vasquez (Janette Goldstein). Also in the mix are Paul Reiser as the personification of corporate malfeasance (yep Cameron even did it back then...), and Lance Henriksen as Bishop. Now I think this flick has kind of an over-inflated fame, people absolutely love it and praise as the best . Look I do too, but it still has the stupidest scene of them all: The badass fight against the queen becomes ridiculous the moment they open the trap door and Ripley climbs back... I love Ellen but I'm gonna call BS on this scene . But hey , for my complaint it's still the most optimistic of this saga ...

ALIEN^3

I understand why people bash this one , but it might be actually my favourite , Why ? Well the trailer says so [link] . And also because it's the most pessimistic and darkest of all this saga . This is really Ripley at her most vulnerable and yet at her most badass (tragedy is what forges us) . Not only does she loset everything dear to her, Hicks, Newt, her real daughter, and even her hair but she also gets a queen . Oh and I forgot to mention this is in A FUCKING JAIL PLANET, the deck is pretty much stacked against her . And despite all this shit , Ellen does not give up even beyond her last breath .
You're free to hate it (and I know why ) but to me it is an apotheosis to Ellen Ripley 's tragedy and a brilliant one at that (I thought this is how GUNNM ended until I arrived to the last 2 pages, and I broke down...) .

ALIEN: RESURRECTION

This is the oddball of them all, but I still love it due to how grotesque it is. This was the first Alien I've ever watched and I still like it to this day (you don't forget your first love ) .
First off , this is not Ripley but an 8th clone that has a copy of her memories (hurray for Lego Genetics !), so you have to see her as a new creature . Brad Dourif is in prime scene stealing mode, making kissey faces at aliens behind glass and exiting the picture in memorably crazy fashion.
And I give it credit for NOT using too much suspense (I mean 3 times would be too much...) and give us the creatures PRONTO for the massacre (and it did not disappoint in that regard !).
As for the Newborn, well it's what the alien would be had it been based on a vagina rather than a penis (and I'm happy they did not use Whedon's initial blood sucking white alien or something like that ...)

Anyway that's it for today kids . I hope you'll enjoy this essay and , do you think I should draw more of these things ?

Out of the original 4, my favorite must be Resurrection. The cast of memorable characters, nice action sequences and badass hybrid Ripley really sold it for me and it's the one I find the most rewatchable. It also features one of the only 2 sequences in the whole franchise that unnerved me. The action-horror and screwball comedy match-up is always my favorite. I also enjoyed Covenant more than I thought I would. If I could make a movie my way in the franchise, I would make it a mix of Jurassic World, Species, The Raid:Redemption and Half-Life, where a group of wacky mercs are called to help with the clean-up when the xenos unsurprisingly get out, only to be screwed over and be caught in a three way battle between the aliens and an army of androids sent to sterilize everything and everyone involved.Β The androids being played by these guys .Also the xenomorphs are played by female volleyball players. The palpable amount of discomfort in the theaters would be something worth seeing.Β

True, Resurrection has the most fun with its premise (and smarter aliens than the ones from the second...). My favorite is the 3rd since it basically how the story would end (and it is ballsier than Cameron's attempt while less sluggish than the first one).
What are the sequences you found unnerving ? I guess the failed clones are part of it...

Yup. And the other one is the whole hospital sequence from Aliens vs Predator:Requiem. It actually shows what would happen during an alien infestation, and the fact that it takes place in such a familiar setting and the feeling of desperation that is present throughout is what makes it scary for me. Say what you want about it but Requiem didn't pull any punches. Funny thing is that one of the movie's criticisms was that it was too violent, because a crossover between an alien that orally assaults its victims only for its spawn to devour the internal organs and violently burst out of the victim's chest and the other being a galactic psychopath that skins, mutilates and beheads its prey is going to be all sun and roses. Plus it showed what would happen to those unable to defend themselves in such a situation, unlike Cameron's Aliens. Shame the original ending to Requiem was never finished, the stuff that thing promised was tantalizing. The Engineer Genocide scene from Covenant deserves an honorary mention.Β

Taken straight from Wikipedia and I am sure there are others:Β Josh Rosenblatt of The Austin Chronicle dismissed the film stating it was "An orgy of mindless violence, a random collection of bloody bodies, alien misanthropy and slobbering carnage designed to bore straight into the pleasure centers of 13-year-old boys and leave the rest of us wondering when the movies got so damn loud."

'cause they ain't enough Care Bears in mah R-rated alien horror movie.Β

Alien misanthropy... why yes, how dare the xenomorph not be more cordial and pleasant to strangers !Β

-N-no.

Yeah. It is honestly a dumb, dumb movie. The same as its scientists. Not unwatchable mind you (though one of my cousins LOATHED this flick's stupidity), but the xenomorph origins should have remained unknown, it is part of the mystery and what gives the creature a sense of dread and mystery (espacially for the first and third ones). Riddley Scott needs to focus on new stuff rather than recycling or revealing (In Blade Runner , Deckard is a replicant ? That's dumb... not to mention that it robs the movie of its flavor !)

Nice and freaky, just how Giger likes it. Myself i thought that Aliens devalued the Xenomorph by them into easily killable bugs, but besides that this series is pretty rocking.

Well, in the even numbered movies they had guns, in the odd ones, they pretty much haad nothing. I never saw the xenomorph actually eating any human, that was weird !

It's hard to tell how they eat.
