Was listening to Katy Perry's "Part of Me" and the song spoke to me on a emotional level. I've had some people in my life who've treated me like I was expendable, who take for granted my forgiving and patient nature as if it erased the pain they inflicted on my heart. They treated my work, my dedication and succusses, like they were nothing to even be glanced over, acted like my form of self expression was a phase and eventually I'd grow up and work on "real art". You have no idea how much it hurt, how much it effected me: I may not show it but I'm very insecure, I'm a massive people pleaser who will be devasted if I don't meet up to the expectations of the ones I respect and love.
Over time I've had to learn that those people, even if they are "family", aren't worth the effort: they've condemed me from the start and I'd simply have to keep on doing what I love. To stick with the people who appreciate what I do and are willing to provide the type of love, respect and aid I need both in my art and emotionally.
So much of an impact that silly little song had on me that I decided to draw up this little image to express me feelings. Here be Kyon, smacking her paw to the ground as the impact lights up the canvas and paints a beautiful scene. Because despite my own doubts or the people who treat what I do as nothing, its what I love and is so intertwined with my soul's expression that there is no way of stopping me from continuing to express it. I'll make my mark on the world through my art and if they can't see the beauty in that, their loss right?
Super duper pleased with how this turned out, just everything came out so pretty and better then I expected. Every new detail I added made the image pop more and more. Particuarly proud of how the splatter effect and spacey sky look, that wasn't my original aim but its so much better then I hoped. The glow effect looks really good too, which is odd as I don't normally do supernatural glow effects.
In case anybody is confused, Kyon is holding a feather in her mouth: its suppose to represent the fact she mainly draws or writes for her form of self expression. That and in the orginal draft she was using the pen to draw a streak through the backgound but it didn't come out right. I was too lazy to erase the feathered pen and it stayed. Plus it shows my absolute obsession over a show I've gotten into and a certain angel I've become infactuated with. XD
