It's an industry that deals with children that parents consider to be out of control - what it does is, when hired by these 'concerned' parents, it kidnaps the children - with the consent of their parents - and takes them to these special 'rehabilitation' facilities where the kids are then made to change their ways with a variety of questionable, often forceful methods. There is a linked article in the description of the drawing, and the whole deal is pretty terrible, in my opinion.

I have read the text after I saw your work and I have to say, my feelings are mixed.

Generally speaking the idea sounds awfull but on the other hand if your kid is tough enough to deal with  drug dealers, alcohol, hard parties, ignoring school and the parent's law, it's tough enough to spend several weeks in a such facility. What can you do ? Let them keep taking drugs, skipping classes and being rude to you ? You have to break it somehow. 

I was taken to a hospital against my will aswell however I din't do anything really wrong, I just had a breakdown and kept saying I wanted to die. I know that feeling being kept somewhere, like an animal in a cage, in the first week I wasn't even allowed to go on my own to the hospital's garden. I'm not a teenager anymore and suddenly I wasn't allowed to go anywhere exept bathroom. But extracting me from my everyday life, from my family, from my room, from my computer really worked well for me, everything became clear and actually I'm glad it happened.

I see what you mean, and I am glad you overcame this state - I can only imagine what you went through, so lots of respect from me.

The thing about this whole industry is that it's completely arbitrary. Sure, there are kids taking drugs, getting into gangs, doing all kinds of terrible things that do need professional help - but then there are gay kids that the parents want reeducated and healed of this state who use these services. Children who have strong opinions, children who disagree with their parents, et cetera, et cetera - you just get your child kidnapped, rewired, brought back - no need for parenting anymore in that case.. I may be seeing this wrong, but this is the impression I got based on the material I have read and watched on the subject.

Then, you know, there are the methods of all this that are absurd. The midnight kidnapping, the abuse, use of force/strong language/threats, it's just so... scarring for kids who are already on a downhill slope. If this was handled differently, maybe it would not be that big of a deal. As it is, I can't help but imagine how traumatizing this experience must be for impressionable youth.
