All kukuris have one thing in common, regardless of their coat color, height, amount of fur, mutations present, or that they have spent generations locked in a valley without contact with the outside world. And is that every one of them have curiosity.

If one finds something new or interesting, soon the word will spread and all the kukuris in the area will come to see what is happening. And it is precisely this characteristic of the species that allowed Krumblor, Lumini and Las Gemelas to remain alive and intact while taking a long midnight nap.

Because when Lyall, one of the alpha praeries of the valley, found them. She was deeply intrigued by those small, plucked intruders, who were sleeping in the open as if they had no concern in the world.

With silent steps, incongruous for someone of her size, the praerie approached the peculiar group. A pup full of bright spots, a large reddish kukuri, another with a face full of armored plates, and what he could only assume was its twin, but she could not make out its body beneath the pile.

The praerie stared, uncertain whether these loaf would be of friends or enemies. The best thing to do would be look for some reinforcements... but when the grayish praerie began to retreat, it was spotted with a pair of bright blue eyes, which were literally glowing in the dark, how was that possible?

The puppy had woken up. They stared at each other for a few minutes, neither of them quite sure how to act, waiting for the other to make the first move.

And that one was made by the young and impatient Kukuri, raising his head and saying in a whisper - Hi! We are looking for bigbig kukus, you look very big, are you a bigbig kuku? -

Lyall gave a amused snort, apparently the cubs are all the same regardless of the species, and this confirmed her suspicions about these plucked invaders. Like Death predicted, that they would arrive, and would probably try to persuade her to leave the valley. Hah, will be fun to see them trying.
- Well, I don’t know, these bigbig kukus that you're looking for have some other ... thing to define them, other than being big? -
- Yes yes, bigbig kukus have feathers, like those of our loaf – Answered the little one, before noticing something - Just like yours! But bigger! -

Lyall tilted her head a little, not being offended at being told that her plumage was tiny, though she preferred to think of it as athletic. From where they come from, had other praeries already? Or another kind of creature...? - Well, congratulations, it seems that I am a bigbig kuku, like you are looking for - She say with a smile full of teeth.

The little kukuri seemed to light up with a smile… not in fact, it lit up literally - A bigbigkuku a bigbigkuku !!! - Lumini started to scream excitedly and shaking the other two kukuris under him.
- What what? - Still half-slept the orange rook mumbled.
- Krumblor! Wake up wake up! We found a bigbigkuku! - Lumini shouted at him, while shaking Las Gemelas by the horns.

Nothing like finding out that the giants who they were looking for, found them while they unconscious, to quickly go from sleep to wide awake.
- Good evening, I mean, good night - Began Krumblor, rising quickly as only the adrenaline allows it. - We apologize for invading your territory, we come in peace –
The praerie looked at him with a frown; intentions are seen in actions, not words.

- As proof of our good faith, we have brought some presents.- From a saddlebag that was previously covered in the middle of the bodies, Krumblor showed its contents, meat, nuts, and other kinds of tasty, if dry, stuff. Actually, these were their provisions, which their handlers insisted on them taking. But the scare, and common sense, told him that giving them would be to start off with a good foot in this diplomacy attempt.

-Nooooooo! That's mine!!! - And of course, the super sincere puppy had to get to ruin the plan, wailing, taking the saddlebag and walking away a good number of steps – Mine!!! -

- Son, my child - Swiftly intervened the blind head of Las Gemelas, walking up to him and surrounding the puppy in a hug. While the deaf head was, against all odds, still comfortably sleep. - The bigbig kukus have never tasted these foods, it is a show of friendship to share it, so they can know -

- But it's mine ... the feather deers put them for me ...- Lumini replied, with the defiant gesture of the one who doesn’t want to admit that has already lost, and conveniently forgetting that it was for everyone, not only him.

- Give it to her, I promise that when we return we will get all your favorites - Encourage the mutant - Also, look how big they are, if you make new friends, they can help you to get to those places that neither you nor I can reach -

With a sniff, a growl and a kick to a stone that was near. Lumini agreed to the idea, and in a gesture of childish arrogance, took the backpack and came running to the Lyall.

- Look look! I brought you presents! And we will be friends! – Said with his best winning smile, and all the objections of ten seconds ago forgotten.

The praerie had a carefully neutral face during this whole exchange, watching carefully what was happening. Like the gifts, that turned out to be a well-meaning lie, or rather, improvisation. Or the mutant (two heads, those used to die a few days after birth, but this one looks healthy, unusual) convinced and comforted the little one, to give up his valuable snacks.

Krumblor hid his nerves well, while Lyall checked and tasted some of the food. - I appreciate your gift - She said finally, placing the saddlebag in her back with a quick movement. The puppies of the loaf would love these little things. - If your intentions are good, be welcome during your visit - Emphasis on visit – Will dawn soon, and the rest of us will want to know you but… -
Here she took a few steps, looming over Krumblor, who had for his part, laid submissively on the ground - If you hurt someone, the last thing you will see will be my teeth in yours throats!!!! - She finished with a deafening roar.
- It is understood? -

- If you said it more clearly, you may turn invisible by accident – Replied the rook, softly and sarcastically. He did not like how he had to submit, but deep in the valley and in other kukuri's territory; he alone could not defend Las Gemelas and Lumini from all dangers. Part of being diplomatic meant knowing when to give in, also if the praerie really wanted them death, they would have not wake up, period. - Although I cannot really believe you would dare to kill an innocent baby and her mother -

- Pff, obviously not, children are sacred, more now that so few have been born - Lyell said lightly, as if she had not made a death threat with all the force of her lungs a few seconds ago. - All the younglings are welcome. The problem are the adults who have been stealing the nests and kidnapped our warriors - Lyall paused to go to the river and drink, which was after all the reason she had arrived originally.

On the way back, she asked - Is she really his mother? Those who are born with bad form do not usually live long, and those who do are usually infertile -

- That's right - Answer the blind sister, who had been approaching during the conversation. - Lumini is adopted, but is the son of my heart anyway- She ‘’looked’’ up - We are Las Gemelas, this precious little one is Lumini, and he is our brother Krumblor- The introductions after the threats, like good civilized kukuris.

- A pleasure to meet you, I am Lyall - With a heavy step, she started to drew back to where she had come from - We will see you at dawn, have a good night -

After a few minutes in silence, Krumblor commented - Well, it seems a good start for a friendship don’t you think? –

And like dictate by a comedic god, the deaf half of sisters stirred awake, looked confused at the lack of provisions, and asked, in signs language, what had happened.
