This is lovely, especially the textured feel of the rain and the way it's almost glowing around her skin

I'm so sorry you've had problems with theft. I borrow pictures for my blog, but I ALWAYS source back to the page it came from. I NEVER take credit for them. This is a lovely picture.

Your photo is great, but I don't see the point of publishing and sharing it when you watermark and don't allow further use.
If you don't want us to enjoy your image, don't post it. I just can't understand why you harm your wonderful art that way.

I'm not harming it. A lot of people steal it and claim it as their own, which is a copyright violation. And I do allow further use, just as long as I am credited with the ownership of the photograph.

What's the problem of some stupid guy stealing your art? Is he or she going to harm you? If that person is making money with it, of course you'll have to fight it, but as long as they don't, when someone takes your photo, it's just another way to tell you that they really liked it. This is one of the consequences of the Internet, copyright is something that doesn't really fit with the concept.
You put that enormous watermark so that anyone can enjoy your art just because some nerd took it, well let them be, it'll just mean that your art is so good people can't help having it.

Okay, well how would you feel if I put up a Van Gogh and claimed it as my own art? It's the same as plagiarism. Taking someone else's work and claiming it as your own can have consequences. And so many people are trying to take other people's art that it's hard to keep track of it and especially know whether or not those people are selling it without my knowledge.
I've seen all sorts of abuse with this image and many other images that belong to other people that it's ridiculous. Some people even claim that it is an image of them.
Bottom line is: I put the watermark up there so that people don't use my art and pass it off as their own. If you noticed, a lot of people do this. In fact, this website even offers the use of a watermark on artwork because they understand the growing problems of image theft. I'm not trying to ruin my art-I'm trying to protect it.

But in order to protect it, you ruin it. It's a consequence you have to pay, if you want to use the Internet to spread your art, you have to accept its rules and, even if we don't like it, Internet is an anarchy. If you don't see this, you end up doing what you do: watermarking the whole image so it can't be enjoyed anymore. You talked about Van Gogh, well, imagine you now go to a museum and see Van Gogh's art under a huge watermark that says "COPYRIGHT VAN GOGH ALL RIGHTS RESERVED" so that people who take photos of it can't claim it as theirs.
Isn't that ridiculous? You make your art less expressive, less beautiful, less art, just to protect it from something that won't actually hurt it, but spread it. You have to ask yourself: ยซDo you do art to express or to be famous, to "make people see your name as the one of a good artist"?ยป What's the point of art then? Fame of expressivity?
My point is, there's no point being angry of someone claiming your art as theirs, because you know it is yours and if you get to a point where you have to prove it, you actually can, because you made it, it came from you and, in the facts, you posted it before. I mean: you are better than those thieves, don't let them affect you nor your art.
