It's a bit of a reference to the Street Fighter character Akuma, but more so it's there to imply a godlike status.

He's one of the gnarly manifestations of another character of mine's subconscious. More than anything, he's my visual interpretation of a god of heathenish beasts, with a dash of melancholy and serenity. And purple.
