People say they hate Trubbish and Garbador, but they're forgetting one thing: Pokemon are monsters. Their name in Japan is Pocket Monsters. They're supposed to look like Garbador, not like some uncreative brown fox thing (coughEeveecough) or a Pokeball with Haunter's eyes (I think you can figure this one out for yourself). And there are three purple blobs in gen 1, two of which kill all plant life in their path and smell awful. I call that far more disgusting than Trubbish and it's evolution combined.Β
And badass dragons? Look at Hydreigon. Enough said.

This is like comparing Reshiram to Voltorb. It just doesn't match up. And I agree with a poster below, Hydreigon could replace Charizard because Hydreigon is an ACTUAL Dragon type, is on par with Dragonite, and literally destroys everything in its path. Oh, and Hydreigon looks like King Ghidorah.

the old pokemon were not all like charizard, and the new pokemon are not all like trubbish (who is really fucking cute, by the way).
the older generation pokemon's designs are much more boring than some of the newer designs. don't even get me started on some of the older pokemon's evolutions (poliwhirl just got angry when it evolved).
i like the old pokemon, but i appreciate the creativity and designs of the newer ones more.Β
they're putting in more effort, not less effort. they're thinking more about how the pokemon appeal to all ages, so some of them are going to be a bit complicated.

And I would take the garbage monster over the sludge one any day of the week. At least with trash if you brave your way in you might find some cool stuff someone just threw out, as with sludge.... well it's got nothing and worse that I had to deal with it in the basement some time ago and had to throw out everything that touched that stuff.

charizard isnt that great of a pokemon. at battling and originality lol.
5th gen isnt as awful as people like to think. mostly because they only see the surface value.
with 5th gen came many amazing moves and pokemon, as well as old pokemon being enhanced with better abilities via the dreamworld... 5th gen really shines for competitive battlers, who use their games to the fullest, usually. the pokemon arent bad either. while you may not think the designs are great, they are certainly more interesting than most anything first gen had to offer if you look at their pokedex entries.
i just think people are too caught up in nostalgia...
im not saying the earlier gens arent awesome, because they are, but the new ones arent terrible.

It has gone down hill, but Charizard is a bad example of their old creativity. I mean, it's really cool and all, but it's an orange dragon. Perhaps a Pokemon such as Mew would have been a better example.
